personally, i think a&f has good quality clothing although it lacks diversity. but that's just the goal of the store-- make everyone look the same
it definitely provides good stock of clothing so you really don't have to think how to put together the perfect ensemble since everything already matches
but
i'm soo glad i've moved on from a&f and hollister. but i do like the large CA, or Laguna BEach labeled hollister clothes b/c it reminds me of home

Spanks are u an ILRie, 'cause I think ILR ppl and gov majors truly understand the corporate evil that is A+F, it's sister brands like hollister, and rivals like AEOutfitters. It's not a taste/fashion dislike for me, but an ethical one.
But I do love their jeans they cater to my body type well!

Walmart, anyone? : P

And the econ and AEM majors (along with everyone else who has plans to sell their soul to the evil corporate world after Cornell) know that "greed, for the lack of a better word, is good."

But, please keep wearing A+F everyone. It will only make those whom don't look that much better. I'm actually looking forward to being considered well dressed next year.

Yes, I'm an ILRie, but my abstinence from A+F is based purely on aesthetics. If I tried to apply ethics to everything I consumed I'd have very limited options.

if I wore any of their tank tops or tube tops, I'd be arrested for indecent exposure, because I am larger than an A cup, and their shirts are designed to fit pre-pubescent girls

lol....I have the same problem with American Eagle and Gap.

I won't believe it until I see pictures.

haha a+f having good quality? never thought in a million years that i would hear that in the same sentence! when i was still in middle school, i begged my mom to get me a polo that ended up costing over $40 because i thought it was "cool". taking off the tags, 1 wear to school, and 1 wash later, a gigantic hole decided to form in the middle of the fabric. not the seam...the middle. what the hell? i was so mad. never shopped there since. ae, however, basically sells the same stuff but is definitely cheaper and lasts longer. ive had the same clothes from there since freshman year in hs without any damages. makes you wonder whether you are paying for "quality" or the "name brand", huh?

Nonsense. This is Upstate New York we are talking about. Ithaca.

This is the way one should dress:

Only if you consider Westchester upstate.

Westchester, Rockland, Dutchess, Putnam, and Orange are definitely downstate.

Right. If you didn't get the memo, two-hundred years ago everybody was wearing powdered wigs.

Well...as a resident of Cooperstown (Central NY), I take offense to that

In terms of being too expensive i think it depends where you live. I live on long island and except for going to walmart or target, american eagle and hollister are probably the next cheapest stores. Also i know a lot of poor people who buy clothes as expensive or more expensive than A+F. Its just a lot of people care about the clothes they wear so they save up to buy expensive clothes

you can get cheap clothes on long island at places like forever 21, charlotte russe, mandee, and a bunch of other places, but those are just for girls.

I'm certain they have thrift stores and Salvation Army on Long Island. Then again, I have never been to said island, so as far as I am concerned it's a mythical place that has to be seen to be believed.

what are the popular kinds of jeans at cornell? do girls usually wear skinny jeans? what about designers: is it more common to see Joes/sevens/true religion or mall brands?

You dress yourself according to what other girls wear? Good thinking....now I know why all girls around campus have the same outfit.

I've seen girls wear skinny jeans...I own 2 pairs and wore them frequently. I own a lot of Express jeans and a few pairs of Frankie B....I would dare say Express is a popular brand and I've seen plenty of sevens and other designer brands.

But...just wear whatever is comfortable for you...that's the motto I live by.

I'm going to have to agree w/ cataxxx on this one, lol.

Skinny jeans are popular right now, but that doesn't mean everyone should wear them. Some people are simply not built to wear skinny jeans...or skinny anything.

People who can afford designer jeans will wear them, while those who don't have $200 to spend on a pair of jeans won't. With jeans, I feel like finding a good fit is more important than having a small emblem above your ass that tells everyone how much your jeans cost.
