fashion

ok here is a different part of ucla than liyana

jeans: don't wear anything ratty, torn (sooo early 2000s) or dirty looking. designer jeans preferable, you should bring at least 2 pairs of something like diesel or citizens or sevens, because people WILL be looking at your butt. even paper denim cloth is tolerable. if you have something from taverniti so or like, earnest sewn, even better. dark wash, skinny/straight/bootcut is preferable, although it seems like wide leg is back, it makes everyone look FAT. even if you are a size 23, you will look chunkier than you are.

muffin top and cameltoe is gross too, so wear your size.

shoes: flip flops, go with havaianas or rainbows (which can both be found in ackerman union). if you have lab, wear converse, since you might be kicked out if your TA is anal and you show toe cleavage with your cute little flats. in the winter, knee high boots, flat or with heels.

tops: i hate it when people wear shirts with logos. it shows you AREN'T TRYING. and crew neck tees are very unflattering on everyone. they make your boobs look like they are at your tummy, even if they are not. i wish we would switch over to vneck for that greek ******** (why do people make t-shirts for formal anyways?)

for more formal stuff, tailored dress shirts are preferable. dont wear something not fitted, it's like a freaking tent.

btw, WEAR A BRA. no one wants to see your nips either.

also, if it's low cut, wear something underneath. not everyone wants to see your cow udders.

sweaters: why does everyone wear a UCLA sweatshirt? seriously, we attend this school too. i say, wear it only if it has letters on it, or if it's fitted.

lightweight cotton coats for fall and spring, and wool coats for winter look SO MUCH more put together.

skirts: don't make it too long, or you look like some hippie freak. dont make it so short that people can see your ass cheeks. knee to midthigh is good. and don't forget to shave (or whatever it is that you do)

liyana suggested sunglasses, and i second that. really dark huge sunglasses are good for avoiding those people on bruinwalk too. doesn't hurt to put on a *****face, and designer sunglasses makes it so that people want to talk to you even less.

most girls use a totebag to carry books. i don't like backpacks personally because they're really gross and sweaty.

like, personally i think it's fine to run to bcaf or puzzles in your pjs, but if you are going to class, please dress decently!

and unless its 8am class, you should try to fix your hair and stuff. clean your face, straighten your hair, be pleasant smelling.

namaste, for our last date party, we had to dress as sheep. and pigs. yea, real flattering

I went to visit UCLA during orientation and the majority of people I saw were dressed casually; no one was really dressing up or fashionable.

Here's my vote for Teva Mush sandals. IMHO, they beat rainbow, especially the Teva Too Mush ones.

here's the thing. its a big school. people dress differently, and a lot of times it totally depends on your schedule that day.

ive gone to class in lounge pants and sweatshirts, and ive gone to class in dresses and big shoes of all sorts. totally just depends on what you're feeling like wearing. you'll find that no one cares. seriously. unless you look absolutely ridiculous, you pass so many people constantly that what you're wearing really doesn't even register.

wear what you want. you won't need anything heavier than a sweatshirt, or maybe a light coat for one of our three 55 degree days per year. rainbows and other sandals are acceptable and even expected 24/7/365.

oh and definitely the sunglasses. avoid eye contact on bruin walk at all costs.

Duh, orientation peeps are newbie. Gosh. Get with the program!

That's like valley girl talk, or not. In any case, as long as you're not naked you're fashionable. Then again, nudity is fashionable.

Isn't Bruinwalk just a site about UCLA, made by students, or something? That's what I thought, but after reading some of the comments on here, I don't think I totally have the right idea about the site. So can someone maybe clear that up for me, as well as the whole thing about avoiding people from Bruinwalk?

bruinwalk is a physical place at ucla, which inspired the name for a website about ucla.

it's where every group known to man congregates to swarm and stuff flyers in people's faces. the point is for students to be able to find out about their campus organizations and events, which is why bruinwalk deals with campus happenings and professor ratings and other things pertinent to students. so yah.

bruinwalk is a long walkway that stretches from the housing to the campus. i call it bruinwalk at least others may not.

some stops along the way are the LA tennis courts,Drake Stadium,Pauley Pavillion,Ackerman,Kerckhoff etc..

On bruinwalk every morning and afternoon there are lots of people handing out flyers, offering free stuff, fundraise, collect money, protesters, and other crazy people who get pretty annoying after you have walked by them enough.

My suggestions to avoid these people is to wear an ipod or use the path on the left where all the bikes are.

Janss S+eps!!! or +ha+ pa+hway near HSSEAS af+er you pass +he C+O Office if you are Sou+h Campus.

looooooooooooooooool emmeline. so creative. my comma key is broken but i just pound really hard and make it work.

go through engineering 4/boelter sw elevator. nw elevator is closed off for now

What's the weather like in the winter?

very nice. still colder than id like.

Not cold enough!

too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer. when i was growing up it used to be 75 all year round here. now we get 50 degree winters and 100 degree summers.

exactly. i miss the marine layer.

hey, i'm packing for ucla now..will b storing things in grandma's from this sat-the fall.

ABOUT CLOTHES: how much high school clothing should i bring? i'm from MN, so no one would kno what "WHS" is but i have great Ts, long sleeves, and sweatshirts from my high school..

how often do ppl wear high school spirit clothing? is it awkward?

also, i have some stanford clothing. is that inappropriate?

ps: my high school mascot's the TROJANS (same colors as UCLA tho)..if i wear a shirt that says "Trojan Ladies Swim and Dive" what would the reaction be??

and what would happen if i wore something USC on campus?!

...

just don't.
