Fashion

OMG. I’m exactly like you RedUnicorn, MonochromeAddict, and Millancad. Woot.

this shows that one can be smart, fashionable, and maybe nerdy at the same time lol. :D

^ Haha… Yes! I think that CC is growing a species of fashionable nerds. Anyway, its a great balance of both!

Umm…I like Coach’s old classic design…but the new one isn’t that bad.

OKAY.

Guys…which is more classier…COACH or. LOUIS VUITTON.

I was thinking about getting a LV handbag…i want to stand out because most ppl/teenage girls have coach bags (some)…but not many have LV…what do u guys think?

I LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE shopping…hahaha.

I have a feeling i might become a shopping addict once i get out of college…

Louis Vuitton is definitely classier. That’s not even a fair comparison.

^Exactly what i had thought :]

^^^OMG, LV. Coach is barely designer, one step above Dooney and Burke. LV is very top of the line. Only Hermes (which hovers in the ideal sphere, except that I have an H scarf, making it more real) is above it, and only the likes of Chanel and maybe Bottega Veneta are equal to it. Not to diss Prada, Gucci, Valentino, etc. The French houses are just bigger at the mo.

If you’re comparing Coach to LV though, are you aware of how much LV costs? I mentioned earlier that I would rather have on sale Gucci than full price Coach. So you can get Gucci on sale for as low as $289 (I have done so myself. I love my Gucci Margot Evening bag!) but LV is not that cheap because does not go on sale. EVER. Never ever ever. Like, at Saks, all the little sale things mention an LV exemption.
If you want cheap LV, you have to buy consignment. And I do mean legit consignment. It’s best to just avoid the likes of Ebay here. LV is the biggest name out there (not because it’s better than Chanel and certainly not because it’s better than Hermes, but because it’s popular monogram style allows for ostentation). On account of that, anywhere not super legit is going to be covered in fakes.
If you start to pay attention and look carefully, you’ll likely begin to realize that a lot of the LV you see is fake. It’s pretty easy to tell once you know, since most fakes are cheap and LV is such quality.

What are your fave LV styles though? I think monogram is too much, though I do sorta like Vernis (my friend has this picture from Japan that’s full of super cool things, and the first thing I saw looking at it was the LV Vernis). But I would really like to have some Mahina or Damier in my life.

Here though (and like everywhere I go), all the girls have Longchamp Le Pliage. It’s more practical for school than leather or typical cloth bags, but before I realized college was going to put me in massive debt, I was planning to save up for some Prada nylon. I had a cute little Le Pliage that this saleslady I met in Amsterdam thought was so unique since she had never seen it before. I carried it as a lunch bag. But I lost it :(. It was okay though, since I bought it during that thing in the fall when Saks sends money to repeat customers.
You might want to consider a nylon bag. Leather needs to be taken care of. At school, with my leather bag, I can’t go in the rain, I can’t set the bag on the floor, I have to watch for anyone who might spill, if my pen cap falls off I’m effed, etc. Nylon is so low maintenance in comparison.
Oh prices. Le Pliage is like $140-ish for a school sized bag, I think. Prada is $700-ish, though there are some really plain looking ones for $500 and some more decorative nylon styles for as much as one wants to spend.

ETA: Agh, how did I just write that much about purses. I suck. Need to go study for APs.

if you haven’t been to that website, go. now!!
the most incredible fashions that i’ve ever seen.

This. <3

Lol, I want to buy a LV so bad…but it’s so expensive :[ But i like the fact that it has a classic look…that fact that it might take awhile for the look to become outdated. But if i do manage to snag one…i definitely won’t be wearing it to school lol…probably outside…but not school. haha.

Coach bags are cute…but not worth my $$$…they look a bit cheap, IMO.

I really need to start saving up money for key designer pieces I can wear around…

Hmm, I love mixing designer pieces with stuff from Urban Outfitters or H&M or even Forever 21.

^ Forever 21 is great for finding basics…but the quality of the clothing is kinda iffy.

But regardless, I still like that store…it has a lot of cute & trendy pieces that are reasonably priced.

Reasonably as in very inexpensive? That’s what I love about it. The basics are so inexpensive that I don’t really care if they wear out after a while. And definitely very trendy. It’s always changing. I used to like Abercrombie, but everything is the same, year after year.

I love LV!

I love Chanel! I kind of want one of their black and white tweed jackets, and a 2.55 sometime in my lifetime.
Do you guys know Alexa Chung? I love her sense of style =]

^ Haha… I LOVE ALEXA CHUNG! Who here loves Rachel Zoe?

^My fashion icon is totally this little old lady I saw at Barnes and Noble one day :). She mixed designers so perfectly. Burberry coat – the trench with light quilting – YSL bag, Chanel shoes. It sort of disgusted me that I instantly identified the brands of all of her clothing, but she rocked it.

Rachel Zoe has a witty sense for fashion.
I have the knack to distinguish a real and a fake LV. The leather textures, the stiches, the weight of the zippers.
OTOH, I do not really favor high-end brands. My grandma and mom already have 70 designer bags combined, so, well…
Anyway, what’s your fashion style? :D

^My style is classic with a bit of bright colors.
Sometimes I go for the whole dress and cardigan look, other times I dress in dark denim jeans with a flattering top. Unless I stay home of course.

I don’t own any LV bags (probably too young). But my mom has a white LV wallet and a handbag. None of her LV bags were on sale but she gets most her designer items; Bulberry jacket, Fendi glasses, Gucci purse, from dutyfree since we go abroad each year. My parents like designer coats/bags/wallets because of the quality and durability though, so they get fewer basic quality clothes rather than just spending it randomly on stuff that is ruined after the first wash.
PS. Italian fashion is still pretty awesome, Salvador Ferragamo has great wallets for men :)

Just wondering to people on this thread, do you wear designer clothes?
What are the usual brands you wear?

^you mean Salvatore Ferragamo?
I have SF’s purse.

No, I don’t wear designer clothes. When shopping for clothes, I’d rather go to bazaars and markets that sell vintage-y, unique, cheap stuffs than to big malls. But my mom does.

My style…hm… depends on my everchanging mood LOL.
Sometimes I can mess up my mom’s old outfits and wear them, since some of them are so adorable. Sometimes bright colors combined with darker ones. But I always wear one ‘focus of attention’ accessory.

HBU, hanana? :D

(ahh excuse my typo, sorry mr ferragamo)

I don’t usually wear designer clothes, except if you count things like my Calvin Klein jacket (which is very warm), I shop at the mall (I’m not the uber-cool person that gets the best vintage items at some place else).
