fast Alumi interview ??

I just had my Cornell alumni interview and I expected some questions from her but all we did during the interview was me asking her loads of questions. it last for about 23 minutes and the only question she asked me was why I want to go to Cornell. At the end of the interview, i said "Thank You" because she answered my questions, but I'm not sure if she took this as a goodbye. Is this how the alumni interview should go? I'm worried I should had said more about myself.

I don’t think you need to worry about it at all. It’s important to remember that these alumni meetings are not real interviews. The point is just to put a personal face on the application process by giving you a chance to talk to someone who actually attended the university.

Usually the alumna/alumnus will ask you if there’s anything more you would like to convey to the admissions office, but there aren’t any questions they’re required to ask and report back on. The length of the meeting usually isn’t reported either. It sounds to me as though you had a casual conversation that went pretty well. You got a chance to ask your questions, and your alumni contact was probably glad that she could provide some useful information.

Also, keep in mind that the alumni don’t get any formal training (other than a short web page of dos and don’ts), so they may well seem awkward or unsure of exactly how to conduct the meeting. They’re trying!

My daughter had a similar experience with her Cornell interviewer. She thought it went well, but it was short because the interviewer did not ask very many questions.

That was exactly my interview, except I didn’t have so many questions for her because I basically knew everything I wanted to know. She had also been a grad student there, several years ago, and couldn’t answer the few questions I did have. I was there less than 20 minutes and left with a really bad taste in my mouth.
