What universities have ascended the ranks and which have fallen? Will the Ivies maintain there dominance? Will newer universities like UCSD and Brandeis see greater success with age? Here is your chance to predict the future!

The Mayan calendar ends in 2012. It has never been wrong before. That's your answer...there won't be humans and thus there won't be any universities.

Well, I for one plan on living forever, and I happen to be doing ok so far. So, I'll tell you once its the year 2100.

Nostradomus (sp) says you won't live past 2012

Nostradamus.

In 2100, UC-Merced will be the greatest University in the world.

in 2100 we would have advanced genetic technology so much that we come out already ultra smart no need for education.

hahaha all of these are very amusing. I'd say by 2100, very few universities won't be reaches. It'll be anyone's guess as to if you get in or not. The trend is that it's getting more competitive even if fewer kids will be applying. Or the world will have ended

Marylandmike09 if the mayans were so smart why are they all dead?

Because their brains got too big.

They exploded.

Best National University:

The Mayan Civilization may be dead but there are plenty Mayan descendents. Their Civilization is dead because the Europeans had advanced weaponry. Their superior militaristic technology was driven by longitudinal relationships of countries which facilitated more exchanges of ideas and cultures which catalyzed advances in technology. The Mayans were also disadvantaged by their own philosophical beliefs thinking that the Spaniard leader Hernan Cortes was a God. Also they were not immune to European diseases- a matter of bad luck in biological terms really and this misfortune was the main reason for their demise. These factors as well as their nonexistence today is irrespective of the superiority of the Mayan calendar which I repeat: it has never been wrong before. And this makes sense because the Mayans have always been good at math since they were the only Civilization to understand the concept of zero.

am i the only one who's not getting the jokes here?

At the current rate of climb, WashU would become the #1 school in the world.

@titan: they Maya are most definitely NOT all dead.

@xjis: it's not a joke. The Maya were one of the earliest civilizations to have such an accurate calendar. According to some, albeit controversial, interpretations of this calendar, the apocolypse will be on December 21, 2012.

^
