Does anyone ever actually get the scholarships advertised on FastWeb? I keep hearing these stories about seniors who apply for tons of scholarships, as in 50 or more, and are lucky to get one local one. Has anyone here had any luck with it, or any other more useful sites?

ive applied to about 10 i think, havent gotten anything back yet.

i just applied to some girls-in-sports one. i bet thousands of girls apply for it - all you have to do it fill out your name, address, etc. and then write, in 150 words or less, how sports affect you. took about two minutes.

My son applied for a couple from fastweb last year, but didn't get them. He has applied for one this year, and will be applying for at least two more; however, these are ones from our state and the college he is attending. The one he already applied for is limited to children of union members. I think the more specialized the scholarship, the better the chance of getting it, so we look for limited audience scholarships.

(He only won local scholarships last year, as a high school senior.)

My daughter applied for Ivysport's Excellence in Life and won 2nd place. It wasn't much money, but the experience was more than worth it. The trick is to only apply to those scholarships you think you really have a chance of winning or that you are truly passionate about.

Good advice....thanks.
