Hi this is my first post since I joined in 2009. My son just lost a $15k scholarship because of missing info on his common app. I am just now finding out that there are major gaps in his application and it is too late to correct, deadlines have passed etc. the missing info on the app I presume is viewed as an incomplete application. Since its the common app its affected 5 colleges. What are the chances for him to reapply at this late stage. I can't fathom the idea he'll have to wait till next fall to reapply and sit out a whole year attending a community college? I need some advice/thoughts on how to proceed. One college really wants him (son is talented musician, they want him for their choral group) and sent a letter for him to complete his app. So on Monday first thing we are calling the college to find out how best to submitted completed app since current applications are no longer accessible for corrections. It was hard working with son to proof his stuff cos his school kept telling students how they "were in charge" and "in the driver's seat" etc etc etc.
Thanks, worried mom.

Well if they really want him for the music department at that one school, maybe you could see if you (or he) could work out some kind of solution over the phone or in person (if possible).

Other than that, you could contact the other schools about this and see if they can do anything. If not, there isn’t really much you can do I would say.

Sorry, but I hope everything turns out well!

Hi AzureStar,
Thanks so much for your response and thoughts on this. My son did call the college that wants him for their music ensembles, turns out his application was in good order. He got a call on Wednesday telling him he had been accepted. Shortly after he also got acceptance letters from Earlham and University of Puget Sound. It feels so much better and reassuring knowing he will be going to college next fall. Losing the scholarship from this other school was a real tough lesson for him. We made a deal that I would be his proof reader for his scholarship applications, making sure every box is checked!

Relieved Mom! Thanks once again!
