Fatal FAFSA mistake? (Help!)

So I inadvertently used my first name as my last name and my last name as my first name while filling out the FAFSA. Now I cannot sign it because it says my SSN doesn't exist in the database (well duh...). So, now what do I do? I applied for another PIN and the name errors were corrected. Do I have to wait for it to be processed or something?

Thanks for the help.

Please, this is nerve-racking not knowing what to do right now.

Sign in to do a correction, if you can. Sign in with the 'wrong' name and change it to the correct one on the corrected FAFSA.

If you can't sign in, then just start from the beginning again.

I submitted my FAFSA under the wrong Social Security Number or name. What should I do?

If you cannot correct it following the instructions then I suggest doing a new one or calling the help line.

Wow this sucks, they basically made it so I can't access my FAFSA form at all. Everytime I enter my correct information, they say the file is not on record, then I try to sign in with the wrong information, and it says that my SSN and name don't match up. Is there really no way to correct this easily?

My suggestion is to start over from scratch. Do a completely new FAFSA, which you should be able to sign with your PIN. That way, you won't have any problems in the future with name not linking up.

Well I called the help line (thanks for the tip) and the lady said just wait for my SAR report in my e-mail. Does the SAR report usually e-mail later than the FAFSA confirmation? Sorry I sound like I'm just full of questions, but my parents just sent in their taxes to get filed and I'm not sure if they have extra copies of anything around here.

It takes a couple days for the SAR. You can go in and correct your info once the SAR comes. Just make sure you send the correction to all your schools.
