Love the school, but concerned about advise advisor gave my son who is interested in applying to Kelly at year's end. His current schedule:

Intro to Business x-100
Comp. in Bus. K-201
Public Speaking CMCL 121 (I believe)
Geology 104
Accting - Bus A-100 last eight weeks of semester

Advisor suggests swapping Pre-Calc for X-100, saying too heavy on Business courses 1st semester and could be stressful. Pre-Calc(Math 25) has grade distribution w/half kids in each class withdrawing or flunking, while X-100 has roughly a 3.0 distrib and is a required Kelley course. What am I missing? And is this a reasonable schedule for a Kelley applicant? Any help appreciated!

There may be a method to the advisor's seeming madness. Besides K201 and X100, your son needs either M118 Finite or M119 Calculus for admission to Kelley. IF your son did not place high enough on the math placement test to schedule either 118 or 119, the advisor may be thinking that M25 could prepare your son for 119 next semester.

Besides the pre-calculus class, the K201 class is difficult and the A100 class has a very tough curve. Be sure your son really focuses on the K201 class during the first eight weeks, so that when A100 rolls around during the final eight weeks, he doesn't have to be concerned about being "borderline" in the K201 class. As far as A100, we've posted quite a bit on here about possible stuff to take during the summer to prepare for this class. Kind of late for your son to do this, but you might see if the book or tapes suggested are something your son could study during the first eight weeks just "lightly" so that when this class comes about he doesn't feel crushed by the quick pace.
