Has anyone heard an admissions presentation or a comment from a Vassar admissions officer re: the effect of legacy in Vassar admissions decisions?
Heard anything anecdotally?

Well I was legacy and was denied this year, so would believe that Vassar does not value their legacy as much as other universities. Plus they do not post stats on legacy admissions, as a lot of other colleges do.

My friend is a legacy, all I know from her is that they require interviews if you're a legacy.

Interviews are not required for anyone at Vassar. Interviews on campus with a member of the admissions office are available for legacies only. All others wishing an interview can request an alumni interview but nothing is required. Vassar does value legacies but a legacy has to meet the same admission requirements as non-legacies. If requirements are met and it is between a legacy applicant and an equal non-legacy applicant, the legacy status might help a little bit. Last year. Vassar enrolled about 50 legacy freshman. No idea how many applied or how many were offered a spot.
