fauver/clark vs. westco

I'm going to be a freshman next year at Wes, so I just got my housing forms in the mail. I'm deciding between the freshman dorms (fauver and clark) and westco. I like the idea of living with all freshmen because it seems like a good way to make a lot of new friends. I've also heard that the freshman dorms at Wes are the party dorms. For me, that is a good thing. My concern about fauver/clark is that they have no sense of community and don't foster a good dorm relationship. I am also not an athlete, so this is another concern.

I like westco because of the sense of community it has. I just worry that it might be too "out there" for me. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a liberal, vegetarian musician and am probably one of the only Democrats in my small, southern town. At a school like Wes, however, I think that I would be considered more mainstream and moderate. I don't know if I would fit in at a dorm like westco, especially because I don't smoke. I'm also not a fan of the two-room double.

Does anyone have any advice on which dorm to choose?

I wouldn’t worry about the sense of community in the freshman dorms. It’s your freshman year, at one of the most reknowned educational experiences in America. By the time the euphoria wears off, you’ll be wishing for a little less community and a little more sleep at night. :)

the frosh dorms definitely have their own sense of community (certainly more so than the nics/butts), it’s a different kind of community from westco. people tend to bond a lot with their halls in clark and fauver. also, I don’t think you have to be an athlete to be a part of that community.

while I love westco and encourage anyone who wants to live there to apply, it sounds like you might be better off in clark/fauver.
