Am I the only electronic/ambient music fan here?:(

Yes.

(just kidding).

Well, Radiohead's Kid A is pretty electronic, but that's about as far as I go.

ugghhh... there are too many people listening to emo bands. I can't stand the "the (insert stupid noun here)" bands. There are way too many. My theory is that if a band can't think of that original of a name, what makes me think that they can create original/ good music. Well I do like one "the" band. The shins are cool. Anyway my favorite bands are:
Jack Johnson
Josh Rouse
Elliott Smith
Coldplay
U2
Oasis
Modest Mouse
Diana Krall
Norah Jones
Nina Simone
The Cranberries (What do you know!? another "the" band. I justify them because they have been around for awhile)
Ani Difranco
Damien Rice
Radiohead
Manu Chao (this really cool singer whose songs are in Peruvian, Spanish, French, and English)
Beck
Sondre Lerche (He is absolutely amazing, he is obscure but you have to listen to him)
I have a lot of favorite bands/ individual artists.

If you want to find songs that are not publicized as much, especially songs from independent artists, use iTunes Music Store. Do not buy the songs, just use the 30 second preview to see if you might like it. I usually look at the Top 10 list of my favorite genre, and upon selecting a song, there is a list of what additional songs people bought alongside that song and so forth.

I forgot to add that I also listen to a Spanish group called "La Oreja de Van Gogh."

hey sunkist184, I LOVE THE GARDEN STATE SOUNDTRACK. It is so good, but none of those bands that you listed are even on that soundtrack. Actually, almost all the bands you listed are very different from the bands on the soundtrack. Just thought that that was weird. When I first got the garden state soundtrack I listened to it for like three weeks straight (not exaggerating, well not straight, but whenever I drove my car which was about an hour a day so I went through the cd at least once a day). But the cd is amazing. I always think of when natalie portman said in the movie "You have to listen to this song, it will change your life (or something like that)." Because listening to that cd changed my life by introducing me to musicians I never would have listened to before. Oh man I love that cd so much. The shins sound awesome and I love the last track. I think the cd is put together so well.
