I used to play many sports and was involved with band and choir. Of late, I don't know what happened! This year, I cut all of the strings and I am hoarding nothing but academia nuts in the wake of my insomniac 'days', like a hamster trapped in her cage while her ass gets fat in some closed off space, running on an wheel with no destination.

Wow, I wrote that so dramatically! I'd say, it's a good case of teen angst and should be taken with heaps of salt. At the peak of my T.A. (16), please don't mind the imagery or other devices that might've been used because I'm being silly.

So what are your favorites ECs?

For now, I'll list piano (in the midst of BEGINNER lessons) and my fantasies of being a Carnegie Hall performer.

Tae Kwon Do.
We take things as seriously as we can, but most of the time we just have a lot of fun. Our instructor is my English teacher, and sometimes he'll start telling stories or manage to connect tkd to The Divine Comedy. Instead of a formal dojang, we clean out an elementary school classroom before every class (we sweep and mop and everything). We have tkd dinners every few months or so, where we eat Korean food we can't pronounce and watch cheesy martial arts movies (Big Trouble in Little China, etc.) And yet it's not as bad as it sounds. We're very dedicated, very insane, and we've given up all our dignity to our instructor's challenges - he really pushes us to be quick on our toes and improvise.

volleyball, not a starter, but still love it. though, my school team is really good, they were state champs last year, and still a good contender this year.

Crayon- AWESOME! I also play the piano, and I'm hoping this will compensate for my rather measly other ECs. I've played for about 11 years- do you play/like classical music?

I am currently working on Rachmaninoff's 2nd piano concerto, do you know about it? Hard stuff... but a lot of fun! :)

i essentially live in either of my schools 2 theatres...hell week i get home near midnight, yet unlike the actors i don't have time to do hw between scenes. it's crazy but i love it. :)

Golf team- because I'll take any excuse to play golf.
Jazz band (trumpet)- because we play some really cool music.
Debate Team- because, let's face it, arguing with people is fun.

Scherzo, yes I am familiar with it. In fact, I'm playing it right now on my computer because you mentioned it. I have about 10 songs of Rachminoff's after my sister injected my computer with her collection of 3000+ from her iPOD. And yes... I do like/love classical music.

Art Club - I used to be in it at school. They don't have it at my school this year. I entered the PTA Reflections contest. :( Consider entering the PTA Reflections contest in your area. This year's theme is 'A Different Kind of Hero'. I was able to win at the district/council level and they gave me a medal, two ribbons, and a $10 coupon to Azteca, a Mexican restaurant in our area.

Oooh... I like debate. We have debates regularly in my history class. Nothing is more wonderful than acting like you know everything, using big words and raising your voice at strategic points to make your argument SOUND so much more effective. It's very lovely. I also enjoy scrunching up my face when the opposition says something so it makes it seem so much more wrong to my classmates who aren't participating in it. It's very effective... :) (Of course, it has to be followed by a volume-fluctuating impromptu eloquently spoken soliloquy that could only possibly make sense to YOU but still has the power to summon agreement from the watchers.) Conjuring awkward silences from the opposition is also beautiful.

Hmm, one of my history teachers is thinking of starting a debate team. For some reason, he doesn't like the format of MUN and prefers the type that was used during the PE debates. I'm not very familiar with MUN... are the debaters in MUN called MUNsters?

"Conjuring awkward silences from the opposition is also beautiful."

Cross-examination is the best part of debate. That's the problem I have with these presidential debates- the candidates can't ask questions to each other.

"are the debaters in MUN called MUNsters?"
::rim-shot::

Our school had a MUN team until last year, when this one kid brought some vodka to the conference. People started drinking and one kid drunk himself almost to the point of death and had to be rushed to the hospital.
...and, as you can probably guess, there's no team this year.
