I’m a youth leader with the state branch of a large LGBT-rights organization. It’s extremely rewarding and I think the training has helped me a lot as an ally and as a GSA officer. We’re going to be leading workshops at a huge LGBT conference down in this area and doing a summit of sorts for GSAs from my state. We’re going to be involved with helping specific schools and stuff now that we’ve completed training and workshop proposals. It’s really rewarding for me as a person.

My second favorite was being a peer mediator at my old school. Our program was shut down after our advisor had to take extended medical leave so we just unofficially trained when we could. It’s amazing what you can learn about conflict resolution and talking people through their problems in your actual life.

Definitely Model UN.

Gets pretty intense sometimes, and theres always the crazy people at competitions that you can make fun of for having no idea what they’re saying.

I love our Academic/Quiz Bowl team. I’m a nerd, what can I say…
It’s just fun! Competition is fun.
I also really liked Tennis until we got a new coach and I quit. But before that, it was just for the love of the sport and my team members who were awesome!

@manders93 Same, Band definitely is favorite.

Academic Team (like Quiz Bowl, but with subject tests as well), Mock Trial, Teen Court (Real life court for juvenile offenders)

robotics, solar cup, key club, and breast cancer awarenessss
and possibly research or something fun in the summer!

My personal favorites are volunteering at our town’s local hospital or overseas, archery (non-hunting), and being participant in a translation/research project on Shi`i Imami classical resources and Islamic history (with primary focus into Imami, Zaydi, and Ismaili history).

squash, lacrosse, mun

I love Model UN! You meet some interesting people at the conferences and the more intense it is, the more interesting it is so I get addicted to doing it.
But i love volunteering at the hospital just as much cuz you meet interesting people there too and im usually the only one so its peace and quiet time during my lunch break.

Community outreach! I design branding and marketing strategies for a local youth agency. The best part is speaking as a representative at community events and schools. My job is to inspire other young people to get involved :)

Btw - I love this thread! If we gathered everyone on this thread into a class (umm…I guess the turtle guy too), we’d make an awesome class with diverse interests.

Drama. Not an EC- life.
