What is the best book (fiction) you have ever read?

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Along the lines of: Harry Potter, Eragon, Keys to the Kingdom (especially Sir Thursday), Inkspell. But those are all just for fun.

For a more mature book, The Scarlet Pimpernel is the BEST in the world (Haven't read the entire series, just the one)

^I'm actually reading that today! I love the old movie of it, and I know the story pretty well, but I never actually got around to reading it. I really like it!

A prayer for Owen Meany, HANDS DOWN the best book ever.

Other John Irving...World According to Garp, Hotel New Hampshire, Fourth Hand.

love it.

Dune and Ender's Game.

Pretty much my favourite nonfiction books of all time :)

Definitely Ender's Game, that book is amazing.

Kite Runner (recent)-->great book

Scarlet Letter-so many layers of meaning AND a great plot? I <3 it

1984 or A Tale of Two Cities

I LOVED 1984! Fahrenheit 451 is pretty good, too.
To Kill A Mockingbird, of course
Pride and Prejudice I really enjoyed, which surprised me
Camus' The Plague

I love Pride and Prejudice!
I love any Jane Austen or any of the Brontes.

If you list The Plague then you have to list The Stranger...it's an unwritten law.
