As a food fanatic and a person who loves to eat, I was wondering if any of you current students and alumni have any recommendations from the dining halls? I know the food from the dining halls are average but there has to be something that each of you like from there. So, any thoughts?

Omelettes are good. Pizza is a solid choice.

Oh yeah, CKC dining has the best food out of all of them, by a large margin.

Are the omelets and pizzas from a certain dining hall?

I love the birhyani chicken from Cafe 3! They only serve it once every few weeks, though. :[ Omelettes, pastas, bagels, waffles, harvest cake! Everything else is either average or disgusting, imo.

I agree with the others that the omelets are good. I’ve always liked the potatoes too (I’m a breakfast person).

They had cheesecake for dessert a couple of times. Those were fantastic (though I doubt they baked the cheesecake themselves).

Where do I find these awesome omelettes everyone is talking about? Crossroads? Cafe 3? Foothill? Or all three places?

Fairly sure it’s Cafe 3.

I would have said the Foothill Korean Beef, but they’re gone buffet style for the foreseeable future (at least by my understanding) and the shift away from a la carte has resulted in their going totally to ****. I popped in a few weeks ago to see if there was anything worth it for a quick bite and was beyond just “mildly” disappointed.

Whenever Crossroads has some sort of fish dish, like salmon or tilapia, it tends to be pretty good, actually.
Also, Cafe 3’s pho is delightful.

On a side note: beware of the “Loco Moco.” That thing is ridiculous.

They had the omelet bars at both Crossroads and Cafe 3 back when I was a freshman. I also liked the occasional burrito bar. I once made a burrito with rice, cheddar, and nacho cheese. It was delightful. I practically lived off of breakfast foods my entire second semester. I had a busy schedule so I went to Crossroads during breakfast and got a huge take-out box that usually lasted me the entire day. By the end of the semester, I had an insane surplus of meal-points, which I spent at the Den (they have Peet’s merchandise there), GBC, and the Bear Market. Speaking of GBC, I was obsessed with their tropical gummy bears.

The frozen yogurt was good when it was not gross and watery (never cared for the strawberry one but the vanilla and the dutch chocolate combo is great). The “muffies” (muffin tops) were good too.

Cafe 3 sometimes had sushi

Cafe 3 —> Serves on occasions the best asian foods with sushi and seafood and everything else. Hard to say about the pizza as they don’t know how to make it like they do at Crossroads. Proximity to Unit3 made me frequent the cafe for the last year and they sometimes have dance parties too.

Crossroad----> By far the best dining commons. The best days to go are Thursday-Saturday because the chefs anticipate the closing of Cafe3 on weekends so they throw out something special for the students especially on Game days. You’ll come across smoked salmon, fried catfish, deep dish pizza, lasagna, decent Chinese foods, good Italian pasta and penne, sandwich bar, ice cream machine, and assortments of desserts. The only negative about Crossroads is that it will be crowded from time to time with long lines at each station.

Clark Kerr----> Went here like 5 times over 3 years. My expectations were too high and so I found nothing that amazing to share. Don’t expect lobster or steak or stuff like that. The dining area looks like the Great Hall in Harry Potter though.

Foothill----> Never actually dined here but heard the food is slightly developing over the years. Switched back to buffet from a la carte.

This is a dumb question but I was wondering whether or not they have chopsticks in the dining halls? I am Asian so I eat rice for dinner everyday with my chopsticks :D. I was wondering whether or not they would have chopsticks for me to use in the dining halls. I understand there is a section of Cafe 3 that has Asian food but do they have chopsticks? I heard they serve Pho sometimes so it would be weird if they make us eat it with forks… This is just my opinion since I am Asian, lol

Turkey pot pies and Pork Baos from Crossroads OMGGGGGG

Yes, they have chopsticks.

I-House has BBQ every other Thursday. So good.

“Barbecue Chicken, BBQ Pork Ribs, Hamburgers, Sausage, BBQ Beef Brisket,*Veggie Burgers, Baked Beans, Corn on the Cob, Summer Salads, Assorted Melons”

Actually the next one is this Thursday, so it’s today! Yum

Tater tots.

I like those chicken strips at GBC. You can buy those w/ meal points…otherwise they’re dreadfully overpriced.

Also the cheap cappuccinos at the DCs. That stuff is explodin’ with sugar. Yummmmm.

Do the dining halls have toothpicks? I don’t use floss.

The vegan/vegetarian pizzas are super good. Every time I see it, I at least grab a slice or two (it is pretty healthy too considering the other options in the dining halls XD)

omlettes mmmmmmmmm
everything in late night
