Favorite "gross" foods?!

Has anyone ever had balut eggs? I LOOOVEE balut eggs! For those who don't know, these are fertilized duck eggs. You boil them and eat them, duck fetus and all.

When I used to watch fear factor a long time ago, they'd make people eat these. The contestants are all like "ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww" and they'd crack open the egg, and pour out the juice and all.

whuuut nuuuu the juice is the best part!!!

I also love century eggs. They're kind of like rotten eggs, but not really.

I also loove chicken hearts, pork liver, pork blood, fish eyes... uhhh I can't think of anymore.

My friend told me about this one duck blood dish. You slit a duck's throat and let the blood drain on a plate. After the blood congeals, you put on some peanuts and spices and eat it with crackers!

One thing I'd never try though... turtle. Too creepy IMO, because you can see the turtle-ness.

Okay you guys, share share share.

imo, turtle sounds the least gross out of all of that. but here goes:

no idea why, but i know people who think raw oysters are gross. but that makes no sense to me.
i like escargot too
and alligator [it’s not gross but some people think it’s weird]

i also like to dip my fries in my frosty when i go to wendy’s?

OH i thought of one: traditionally at a crawfish boil in louisiana, when you eat the crawfish you also suck the organs out of the head. it sounds gross, but it’s really delicious because that’s where all the fat and goodness is. My dad and I do it, but my mom and brother still think it’s gross.

i like sushi even so many people think its nasty
its raw fish on top of vinegared bread

I never understood why people are so grossed out by “century” eggs on Fear Factor.

 1. How can anyone be dumb enough to think they are actually 100 years old?
 2. It’s not even obscure Asian cuisine, you’ll find it in pretty much every Asian market.

@IzzyBusyBee- I do that too! (the crawfish thing)

The Turducken. I’ve never had it, but the concept is amazing.

Because century eggs smell like farts?

@Izzy, I love dipping my fries into ice cream.

Oh, I just thought of fair foods. I want to try deep fried butter, deep fried twinkies, deep fried oreos, and bacon dipped in chocolate.

balut is ****in amazing, especially the juice [ with salt ]

I’m Filipino, so I guess our cuisine can be on the “gross” side aesthetically, but they’re amazing. There’s this one dish where we cook it on pork blood so it’s black and all, and it’s good.

I just read this on the origins of the century egg and I thought it was hilarious:

“Hmm, what to do with this egg that’s been sitting in the ground for 2 months… I think I’ll try eating it first, fungus and disease be damned.”

I really like this sandwich, you put two over-easy eggs, baked beans, and a couple of slices of tomato between toast. It’s delicious.

“balut is ****in amazing, especially the juice”

I saw that on Bizarre Foods, and of anything I’ve ever seen on that show that’s the thing I want to try most.

bizzare foods is the ■■■, would you want to try jackfruit?

What’s wrong with jackfruit? Jackfruit is awesome!!!

Reminds me…I don’t understand how people can say durian smells bad. There’s no stenchy odor to me at all! Is it because I’m used to eating durian or is it some kind of genetic thing?

It’s most likely just you. Durian has an extremely pugent smell. Many hotels have banned it.

Jackfruit stinks.

are you latina or asian? jw. anyways its a bizzare foods thing, zimmern can eat like anything but durian, and balut coincidentally

Jackfruit and durian smell delicious. Is it possible that I’m eating different types of jackfruits and durians…?

pics plz .

I like snails, but then to the French, that’s normal. So not too ‘gross’.
Some people grimace at some seafood such as octopus, I think octopus is yummy.
Also, I’ve had pupas (not random ones from the garden, actual food ones). That wasn’t too pleasant. So I can’t say it’s a favorite food.

Durian[/url”>http://uoflconnect.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8345f71cc69e201127906e41228a4-800wi]Durian. I eat these fruits all the time! As far as I know, no one in my family has ever complained of any smell. To me, they don’t smell bad at all. So, maybe it’s a genetic thing.

The first time I ever heard of durian having a smell was when I was watching…I think it was Unwrapped on Food Network. And people were like… “it smells like sewage”

I was like…whut?

" anyways its a bizzare foods thing, zimmern can eat like anything but durian, and balut coincidentally"

If I remember correctly, he did eat balut.
