Favorite Harry Potter Books Ever

Okay, so these Christmas holidays finally gave me the chance to read a lot of the books that never get a chance to read during the busy school year. If you guys do read Harry Potter, what are your favorite(s)?

Mine: The Deathly Hallows (I loved the mythical quality that it had because she talked at lot more about magical history, and there were so many things that she brought back after briefly mentioning them in the other books. Like Grindelwald, the tiara, etc.)

The Goblet of Fire

The Sorcerer's Stone-It had this sort of charming, innocent quality compared to the books that came later on. I always like reading about the Mirror of Erised for some reason.

I liked books 1-4, but my favorite is probably Prisoner of Azkaban. I don’t know why. Maybe because it was nice that Harry finally had a father figure? Sirius was always awesome. Really ****ed me off that Peter Pettigrew got away, and Sirius had to stay in hiding. But I guess I liked having the hope (even when I re-read it, I have the hope, though I know what happens already).

Sorry if I spoiled anything, but Prisoner of Azkaban is pretty old so I figured it’d be okay. ;]

Goblet of Fire was always my favorite, I don’t know why.

3rd one–Prisoner of Azkaban!!! Best one ever.

I love all of them though.

The 2nd one is probably my least favorite, but still good!

But yeah, love the 1st one too…read it a million times. It’s sooo worn out by now
I also love the ones at the end because they’re really exciting and sooo much happens.

^ I know what you mean about the second one. I like the end where he goes to the Chamber of Secrets, but some of the stuff that happens before that is not as exciting.

last one. ftw.

Favorite to least favorite:

Order of the Phoenix

Goblet of Fire

Half-Blood Prince

Prisoner of Azkaban

Deathly Hallows (So sad to know the series would be over)

Sorcerer’s Stone

Chamber of Secrets

I liked the darker, more serious books over the first ones which were happier, friendlier, and more optimistic.

I don’t think I’ll ever love any other books as much as I did the Harry Potter Series. Kinda sucks to know I won’t ever get to read a new one.

I think Goblet of Fire was my favorite, with Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban tying for second place. I disliked Sorcerer’s Stone; far too much time was spent with description of the setting and too little focused on the plot of the book. But even more I disliked Order of the Phoenix, with its emo Harry; in fact, that book turned me off so much I didn’t read the other two.

I really liked 4 and 5. Don’t know why?

I will gladly describe my Potter experience as follows:

Took me a month to read 1st book.

2nd one took me 2 months.

3rd one I stopped at page 100 after 2 months. During summer.

The rest I didn’t bother.

By relative degrees, I vote the first book.

the 2nd one is my least favorite as well, a lot of people seem to think so.
I basically like all of them equally, except for the 2nd. Don’t know why.
The last one would be my favorite if there weren’t that stupid Nineteen Years Later chapter. (Which I read btw before I read the book, because some idiot posted it online before the actual book came out.)

i skipped the 5th and the 7th. maybe the second or first are my favorites? short and sweet and to the point. i feel like i really liked the 3rd or the 4th one too, but i cant remember.

ALL OF THEM.

The second one was my least favorite when it first came out though. Hearing this sketchy bodiless voice expressing its desires to kill really freaked my little third-grade self out, haha.

I will agree with the almost-consensus that the second one is fail.

I love love love the 5th one. I’ve read it 27 times to date (about 18 of those were in one summer, tho, lol). I also really liked the 6th and 3rd ones, and the second half of the 4th.

The 7th one…it was good, and interesting, but just also weird in that “Wow, this my last ever HP book.” way others have mentioned. So I didn’t read it as intently as I used to read them.

I can’t say that I like the whole fifth book, but I do like this sequence of chapters which starts with the moment that Harry sees Mr. Weasley get attacked by a snake and ends when they find out about Grawp.

And the fifth book has some of the best end scenes because I like to read about the dueling for some reason.

Wow, the second one came out in the 3rd grade? I think that by accident I read the second one first, and I did not even understand what was going on.

I read the first three in elementary school and lost interest. I haven’t even seen the last couple of movies (don’t even know how many movies have been released so far; same goes for the books).

7 is my favorite hands down. I blew through it in two days and I basically couldn’t put it down the entire time. It was sad that it had to end though. The anticipation for the final three books had been terrible (I started really caring after the release of the fourth book) and to have it finally end was just a really intense feeling. The series used to be a big part of my life, and I was happy to see it end on the note that it did.

The first time I read Goblet of Fire, I loved it b/c of the amazing twist. However, the second time I read Order of the Phoenix, it became my favorite HP book. When I was reading it, I was having the worst summer of my life and I could relate to the book-- feeling like your friends deserted you, the pain of losing a loved one, etc. I think I cried like 3 times during that book (and I don’t even cry for most movies let alone books) because of its relevance to my life at the time. They’re all amazing though.

I loved the idea of the Marauder’s Map. Whatever book has that is my favorite.

^ I think that’s the Prisoner of Azkaban?
