Favorite Hotels near Elon?

Hi. I was wondering which hotels are the most popular near the University? Would love to hear from any Elon families which hotels they prefer when visiting. There seems to be a number of 2-3 star hotels. Which is the nicest? Newest? etc.....

Thanks!

My favorite is Burke Inn Bed and Breakfast. It’s a couple of minutes from campus.

Hampton Inn is our favorite. Very new, nice and clean. It’s right next door to the Holiday Inn Express (formerly a Comfort Inn) which is also recently renovated, clean, and a little cheaper. Both have good breakfast buffets included in the price. We have stayed at both many times (our daughter is a junior at Elon) with no problems. Both are in Burlington at the intersection of I-40 and Huffman Mill Road, about a 10 minute drive from campus (the street address is Saconn Drive).

There’s also a Courtyard Marriott and Countryside Suites near that same intersection - haven’t stayed at either but they both look fine. If you search TripAdvisor for Burlington NC you can see hotels near Elon and their ratings. The only thing I know of that’s walking distance from campus is the Acorn Inn in Elon, but it’s very small. The actual town of Elon is very small and adjoins Burlington very near campus.

I always stay at the Best Western on Huffman Mill Road. They love Elon and the staff makes the place feel like a home away from home. Normally I look for a chain of hotels with more dependable quality but this place is the best “Best Western” I have seen.

The place is clean and serves a great breakfast buffet that is free to guests. If it’s hot weather they have a large courtyard pool. But mostly it’s the great staff.

We have always stayed at Country Suites, because my family (with teen boy and girl) appreciates the extra room, 2nd tv, and the fridge. Prices are reasonable and they too have a (small but adequate) breakfast buffet. It is next to the Marriott Courtyard, behind Hooters (a little tough to figure out how to get there the first time to Burlington, unless you know to look for Hooters!) It’s not 4 or 5 star, but it’s always been just fine for us.

We looked into the Acorn Inn for Grandma to stay for Parents Week-end (so she could take part, but be on her own schedule and not reliant on a car ride back to Burlington.) We were told that you couldn’t book a room on major college week-ends unless you were a return visitor, and even then, I think she said they have a lottery. But we took a tour, and the rooms were nice. Not sure what they consider to be the major week-ends, beyond Parents and graduation. I know Samtalya stayed there for freshman move-in.

We have been very happy with the Comfort Suites in Whitsett. It’s about 7-8 miles to the Elon campus, so it doesn’t fill up as quickly as the hotels in Burlington during Elon events. It’s a bit more pricey than some of the others, but the large rooms with sitting areas and the free breakfast make it worthwhile for us.

I second the Comfort Suites in Whitsett. I have stayed at the Hampton Inn which was not bad and also the former Comfort Inn in Burlington. But this will be our third time at the Comfort Suites in Whitsett.

Best Western in Burlington! Only about 10 minutes away from campus. And you get 10% off if you mention you’re visiting Elon University!

On college visits we stayed at Microtel for the price and were very happy. It’s just the basics but that’s all we needed.

For the orientation weekend we stayed at Best Western because I knew there would be a lot of other Elon families there which would give our daugter a chance to meet some of her future classmates, which worked out very well. It is an older hotel but has been renovated and is nice. The outdoor courtyard/pool area looks nice, though it was too cold to use it last weekend. Staff was very friendly. We have plans to stay there for move-in weekend.

During the Fellows Weekend I stayed in the Microtel in Burlington. It’s not the Ritz but if you’re there just to visit and won’t be in your room too much, it’s not bad. It could use a few upgrades but overall it was fine. There is a really quick way to the University that only takes about five minutes too. I enjoyed it.
