"Favorite Movie" question?

I had a supplemental question asking for my favorite movie. This was not an essay, just literately a text box requesting just the answer.

I honestly forgot what I put, but what if I put a movie like Half Baked or Harold and Kumar or whatever? What is the purpose of this question?

The Admission officers were probably just trying to spice up the questions. They’re just trying to get to know you better. Don’t sweat too much about it.

I’m curious to know what school asked this question. Also curious as to what your favorite movie is. I don’t understand how it’s possible to forget your answer but remember the question.

They are trying to see if you are a real person or just telling them what they want to hear. No 16/17/18 year old’s favorite movie is Citizen Kane.

My son was asked this question in a USC supplement. His answer was Forrest Gump which I thought was an awesome answer.

I sometimes ask this in an interview since there is no right answer and I find it interesting to see what they like about a particular film. Probably not a good idea to say your favorite film is Harold and Kumar any more than saying your outside reading consists of comic books.

My (utterly uneducated) guess is that your answers may also help the university assign you a roommate whose tastes in art&stuff are similar to yours, in case they decide to admit you.

I had one of those questions. I answered with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

"My son was asked this question in a USC supplement. His answer was Forrest Gump which I thought was an awesome answer. "

Lucky I wasn’t his reviewer as I think Forrest Gump stupid.

@twoinanddone It’s an inspirational and moving movie. Good thing you will never be his reviewer.

Btw your response is offensive.

The School was George Washington U

I put “Office Space” lol
