I was wondering all u ppl interested in theater, what has been ur most fave play or musical. For me, personally I liked rent, hairspray, wicked, phantom of opera to name a few

Les Miserables<3

"Chicago" for me

wow that's a tough question.....there are so many good ones!!

gypsy is probably what i'd say

with my fair lady and into the woods tied for a close second....

the last five years!
it has such great music...maybe its just because I love all JRB musicals

oh gosh...um...I can't pick ONE.
Light in the Piazza, My Fair Lady, Rent, Wicked, Chicago, Little Women, Les Miz, Spelling Bee, Hamlet...and more. moremoremore.

i love RENT!!!!! I saw it 3 times. it's so good.

Sweeney Todd definitely gets my nod for the best musical ever. It's amazing in all respects, in my very humble opinion.

I so want to see the revival in New York.

LD

ahhhh it's hard to pick just one as my favorite, but i'd have to go with the phantom of the opera

wow i cant believe it hasnt been mentioned yet

west side story...all the way...you got sondheim, bernstein, jerome robbins on dance and directing...can you ask for more?

I don't know how to choose! I lean towards uplifting, less serious musicals like Wicked, Mamma Mia, Spelling Bee, Boy from Oz (sorry...I love Hugh Jackman!) My D's tastes are much different. Are you ready? She loves Batboy, Little Shop, The Fix, Assassins...somewhat darker, huh? She must be adopted! Definitely a future MT major...

i think sweeny todd is genius but it's not one of my faves....oh and you're right about west side story haha.

I have never heard of The Fix...is that a newer show?

Not new - 1997 - by the same composers as ZOMBIE PROM (which is a cult MT fave), and I think WITCHES OF EASTWICK (the musical version) as well.

The Fix is not new - but I'm not totally sure when it was done. I saw a bootleg recording of it four years ago, so it's at least that old. It's about a kid whose mother and "uncle" plan his path to the presidency from birth - and "the fix" refers to both his addiction to drugs (I think cocaine) and his mother's and uncle's addiction to power. As far as I remember. :)

My favorite musicals would be Hello Again, In Trousers (prequel to the Falsettoes musicals) and Threepenny Opera. Second place goes to Spelling Bee, Avenue Q, and Into the Woods.

a new brain. 100%
william finn is amazing, and i could listen to malcolm gets and kristin chenoweth forever..

My favorite musicals are Aida, Westside Story, Ragtime, and Hair. Too many to name for favorite plays.

MTpolk, I also love A New Brain! With the subject matter (how Bill himself dealt with recovery from a brain tumor and the support received from his mother, boyfriend, and friends), you'd never expect such a life-affirming, uplifting show. :) Bill Finn is, indeed, amazing. He is one of Tisch's gems and the students adore him. He's much better known these days for Spelling Bee but I'll always think of A New Brain when I hear his name.

Ya learn somethin' new every day! I have two teens who are so into musical theater and seem to know about most every show and The Fix is one I had not heard of (maybe they have, dunno...they're not here). Thanks for explainin'.

I can't pick a favorite musical so didn't even try to post. Both my kids have several favorites too, but not a single one.

Samia, I must admit that I am also not familiar with Hello Again or In Trousers!
