Favorite Required Reading Novels

The Razor's Edge by W. Somerset Maugham. Only book I know of that moved from my summer reading list to my list of favorite books of all time.

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card

Crime and Punishment by Dostoyevsky

The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck

Siddhartha by Herman Hesse

Hamlet by Shakespeare (go out and rent the film version with Kenneth Branagh. It has Robin Williams and Billy Crystal in it, and it is AWESOME)

A Room of One's Own
Jane Eyre
Their Eyes Were Watching God
Huck Finn
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
Heart of Darkness
"Macbeth"

Huck Finn was a good book.

I love The Great Gatsby-- though I liked it more when I had read it on my own previously, I'll admit.

^ I have to say that The Great Gatsby wasn't too bad, either. The weird thing is that I didn't enjoy it when I read it by myself, but when I read it with the class, I was more "involved" with the storyline and whatnot. I also liked Catcher, To Kill A Mockingbird, and Anthem.

Well, I am not a fan of reading ASSIGNED books, but I had to read them anyway. Some were really good, while others........errrr....r..r.. can go back to where it came from.

My favorites included:
Huck Finn
Great Gatsby
To Kill A Mocking Bird
All Quiet on the Western Front
Night
Brave New World
Animal Farm
The Death of a Salesman
Red Badge Of Courage.

Don Quixote by Cervantes
The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand

I could not finish Fountainhead that was boring was hell...But I did read other non fiction novels by her :/

Oh man this list is going to be long.

Absolute favorite: Pride and Prejudice
Others I liked:
Brave New World
1984
F451
The Catcher in the Rye
Madame Bovary
The Plague
To Kill a Mockingbird

Fountainhead was pleasing to read because I like the style but in the end it loses because Ayn Rand is just plain wrong. So there.

Not novels but still favorites:
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead
A Doll's House

Great Gatsby
Catcher in the Rye
Pride and Prejudice
Jane Eyre
The Importance of Being Earnest

Las ataduras by CM Gaite is terrible as well, along with Lazarillo de Tormes.

i liked jane eyre even though it was hellaz boring at times...i enjoyed the ending i guess. i also adooooored to kill a mockingbird.

let's see... i keep thinking of more that i actually enjoyed... definitely Dante's Inferno...and probably The Crucible aslo... i also liked After the First Death even though i thought it was a bit pointless for the honors 11 curriculum...
