<p>Seriously,
[quote]
Once upon a time you dressed so fine
You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didnt you?
Peopled call, say, beware doll, youre bound to fall
You thought they were all kiddin you
You used to laugh about
Everybody that was hangin out
Now you dont talk so loud
Now you dont seem so proud
About having to be scrounging for your next meal.</p>
<p>How does it feel
How does it feel
To be without a home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?</p>
<p>Youve gone to the finest school all right, miss lonely
But you know you only used to get juiced in it
And nobody has ever taught you how to live on the street
And now you find out youre gonna have to get used to it
You said youd never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize
Hes not selling any alibis
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And ask him do you want to make a deal?</p>
<p>How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?</p>
<p>You never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns
When they all come down and did tricks for you
You never understood that it aint no good
You shouldnt let other people get your kicks for you
You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a siamese cat
Aint it hard when you discover that
He really wasnt where its at
After he took from you everything he could steal.</p>
<p>How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?</p>
<p>Princess on the steeple and all the pretty people
Theyre drinkin, thinkin that they got it made
Exchanging all kinds of precious gifts and things
But youd better lift your diamond ring, youd better pawn it babe
You used to be so amused
At napoleon in rags and the language that he used
Go to him now, he calls you, you cant refuse
When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose
Youre invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal.</p>
<p>How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?
<p>let it go,
let it roll right off your shoulder
don't you know
the hardest part is over
let it in,
let your clarity define you
in the end
we will only just remember how it feels</p>
<p>One of my favorite song lyrics has to be from Pocahontas -
"Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned?
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountains?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?"</p>
<p>B'tches in the back looking righteous, in a
Tight dress, I think I might just
Hit her with a little Biggie 101
Like how to tote a gun, and
Have fun with Jamaican rum</p>
<p>Don't get smart or sarcastic
He snaps back just like elastic
Spare us the theatrics and the verbal gymnastics
We break wise guys just like matchsticks</p>
<p>Oh, kaleidoscope
A new shade for each new way
In which you draw me close
And then you stumble on my name
You are a battlefield
Leaves me fighting with myself
To keep my heart of steel
From melting to the ground</p>
<h2>(Joe Brooks)</h2>
<p>And You said, “I know that this will hurt,
but if I don’t break your heart, things will just get worse.
If the burden seems too much to bear,
remember…
The end will justify the pain it took to get us there.”</p>
<h2>(Relient K)</h2>
<p>Cause these are the nights that you know when youre there
You couldnt have planned it much better I swear and you hope
That your senses arent failing you now
And you think to yourself now I could be wrong
But I might have just stolen this scene from a song and you know
That your senses arent failing you now, but theyre slipping away</p>
<h2>(Making April)</h2>
<p>I was caught in an awkward silence
broken down by the sound of your prelude that you played
to open our symphony
I’ve been sleeping with the sunrise watching hours pass away
incidentally I’m just waiting for the dusk to kill the day
but now I’m waiting for your call
while I bang on this piano like you care at all</p>

<p>Whatever happened to Amelia Earhart?
Who holds the stars up in the sky?
Is true love just once in a lifetime?
Did the captain of the Titanic cry?
(Jon Foreman)</p>
<p>So funny-when you compare the lyrics of my generation (Springsteen, Midler) with those of my d’s generation (Lil Wayne, etc.), I can’t even imagine preferring the latter. Then I remember my mom’s criticism of of The Beatles and boy, do I feel old! But really, Thunder Road and Imagine–they are classic.</p>
<p>@Vitrac
lyrics aren’t really the merit that you judge music, lil wayne is good because he works with good producers and has an interesting “flow”. lil wayn’s puns and gangster stuff in his lyrics are just used as syallbels for his flow over a beat.</p>
<p>mick jagger just sings things like “start me up start me up” and “you got to roll me, call me the tumblin dice” but he is considereded one of the best of your generation because the musical composition and recordings are just very good.</p>
<p>any sensitive high school student can write about 95% of the rock and folk lyrics that some people of your generation consider “deep” IMO.</p>
<p>Nanker–Is Dylan in that category too? Just asking.
My point was we view what is “classic” through the lens of our own eyes, our own generation’s eyes. I just can’t hear my kid’s music the way she can, the same way my mother couldn’t understand my music.</p>
<p>hi my self peter rose.I live in NY and my favorite song lyrics is…
If you love somebody
You better let it out
Don’t hold it back
While you’re trying to figure it out
Don’t be timid
Don’t be afraid to hurt
Run toward the flame
Run toward the fire
Hold on for all your worth
Cause the only real pain a heart can ever know
Is the sorrow of regret
When you don’t let your feelings show</p>
<p>[Chorus]
So did you say it
Did you mean it
Did you lay it on the line
Did you make it count
Did you look ‘em in the eye
Did they feel it
Did you say it in time
Did you say it out loud
‘cause if you did hun
Then you lived some
That feeling inside
That’s called satisfied</p>
<p>Busy people walking by
Can’t help but worry some
With so many things to do
So little love gets done
Empty hearts everywhere
Drowning but dying of thirst
If you want love
It’s not that tough
Start by giving it first
It’s so easy to give
Baby can’t you see
Just close your eyes open your heart
And do what comes naturally</p>
<p>[Chorus]
Well did you say it
Did you mean it
Did you lay it on the line
Did you make it count
Did you look ‘em in the eye
Did they feel it
Did you say it in time
Did you say it out loud
‘cause if you did hun
Then you lived some
That feeling inside
That’s called satisfied</p>
<p>[Bridge]
Horses are built to run
The sun is meant to shine above
Flowers are made to bloom
And then there’s us
We were born to love</p>
<p>@Vitrac
well no, not bob dylan. he’s very good. haha, he’s part of the %5, along with some others from the 60s and 70s. he’s truly classic, like john lennon.</p>
<p>but i was just talking about lyric wise though, that not all musicains are striving to be poets, and they don’t have to either.</p>
