To all current students.... where is your favorite place to study, preferably off campus, and somewhere with nice comfy chairs? I need to mix up my scenery after two years haha.

[Twiggs Coffeehouse - University Heights - San Diego, CA](http://www.yelp.com/biz/twiggs-coffeehouse-san-diego-2)

A lot of my professors/postdocs live around the area, so it was a convenient place to meet outside of lab. Good, strong espresso drinks, free wi-fi, comfy chairs, spacious tables, and cozy. It’s also next to a lot of other nice eateries and bars, so everything is within a block or two.

Oh man, I think this is the first time I’ve seen UCSanDiego actually start a thread. I’m shocked.

But I’ve heard amazing things about Twiggs. I havent been there myself, but my RAs and TAs have recommended the place all of last year

Thank you! I’ll definitely check that out, I’ve heard good things too!

Hahaha I try to always search the archives first before starting threads This is a rare occurrence for sure

applause :D

I … didn’t study. Playing was more fun!

I hate all you Chem majors >:[

Try playing with rote mathematical proofs :(

Damn astrina I was sure you’d know of some great spots

Not a current student and I’m seriously dating myself here - graduated in '84 - but I used to like to study at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography library down the hill. Very quiet and great ocean views.

I used to work in the IT department at SIO Library–like NJ said, it’s nothing but great views and silence. There’s a convenient SIO shuttle/minivan that goes to and from Peterson turnaround every 15 minutes.

the living room in downtown la jolla. its one of the only coffee shops around that’s open late (i believe until 1 am). its super chill.

Scripps is still a great place to study, especially at their library area which has outdoor plastic chairs and wifi access. You can park on La Jolla Shores Drive for free if you can find a spot.

Twiggs is an excellent coffee shop and there are plenty of other good ones in the North Park/Hillcrest/Bankers Hill area. I’ve really liked Cafe Bassam in Bankers Hill, but be warned it doesn’t have wifi (which actually makes my work there 100 times more productive).

Strangely enough, the Ralph’s in UTC is actually a fairly good place to study. It has free wifi, plenty of outlets, and pretty comfy chairs. It’s also open 24/7, unlike 99.999% of San Diego.

Though they aren’t open very long these days, I’ve found the public libraries in the area to also be good places to get work done. Del Mar’s is particularly pretty and the UTC one is convenient enough to UCSD. Just be sure you don’t go on a furlough day.

Depending on your class schedule, you could use your studying time ON campus in your usual places to make use of the time in between classes.
