Favorite way to schedule college classes

for those of you who have been at college for multiple semesters/quarters what have you found to be you favorite variations of you schedule. For example all class early or later ect. i realize its probobly mostly personal but if you can post examples of your days that you liked alot or disliked alot, ones that seems more conducive to school work and those that didnt ect. or any other interesting insight you may have as to the scheduling of your classes.

i like earlier classes better (but not 8 a.m. classes).

The ideal is to be done by 1 or 2 then relax for the afternoon, dabble in some work, perhaps nap, then do more work in the evening.

Last quarter I had a schedule where everything was sprawled out, but nothing too early. This quarter, I had a schedule where on MWF my last class ended at noon, but on TR (Tues and Thurs), my classes went from 12-8, and 12-6 respectively. It was alright, but I HATED Tuesdays. For spring quarter MWF are the same, but on TR I have class from 10-12, then 4-6, then 7-8. Hopefully spreading out the classes on TR will be better than cramming them all into one jam packed block.

I definitely do like getting out at noon on MWF though. Especially F, when everyone else gets out at like 5. HAHA.

I have no classes on Fridays this semester and it's sweeeet. It gives you an extra day to do homework/recover from Thirsty Thursdays.

i like having all my classes in a row, most of them on MWF from 8-3. Its better when you live off campus to schedule them one after the other. Then on tuesdays and thursdays I have most of the day to go to work.

Although I like to sleep in, I personally prefer early classes (this includes 8am ones). This way I get all my lectures out of the way by early afternoon and then take a nap and relax. I've found that the later my classes are, the more prone I am to skip them. I'm not sure why.

My favorite schedules are preferrably 2 days per week, no fridays, and no class before 10. The quarter system rocks.

I like schedules where you don't have random hour-long breaks, because they are very inefficient to get anything but maybe have lunch. (and then still too long for me) I'd rather have four classes straight in the morning, then go to my job, and be done in the late afternoon/early evening. If no friday classes were an option, I would do that.

My favorite schedule semester was when I had 5 m/w/f classes, and only a lab on tuesdays and one class on thursdays. I had two days a week that I could spend on homework or whatever.

You also might want to take into consideration to leave some time between 9-5 in your schedule for office hours of professors, and visiting places on campus that might not be open all the time. (records, doctor, cashier's, etc) This is also good if you have errands to run. (for example need your car serviced; most places aren't open late)

One semester I had early classes, and worked most of the time until 6pm. I didn't have the daylight hours to get any errands, on or off campus, done.

One last point...if you have classes some days of the week that start late, and other days of the week really early, it is nice to sleep in but really throws your sleeping schedule off.

I like to have two heavier days with three or four classes and two lighter days with one or two classes (my school doesn't have classes on Friday which is awesome). I prefer having an hour or two in between classes; you can squeeze in lunch or some homework, and who likes three or four hours of class in a row? One more thing, don't schedule any classes that go later than 5:30 or 6:00. I had a class that went from 6 to 7:30, and I hated it. When I got back to the dorm and everyone was hanging out and done for the day, I had to leave for another class, and I missed out on dinner usually.

I love having Fridays off. I've had it the past two semesters, but it probably won't ever happen again.
Currently, I have night classes on Monday and Wednesday and two normal classes on Tuesday and Thursday. Since I'm a commuter, I genrally like classes from 10 a.m. on because it gives a chance for the traffic to thin out and fog to burn off.

I have made sure to never schedule a class earlier than 10AM. This way I could get work done, hang out and go to sleep as late as 1AM and still get 8 hours of sleep or I could go to sleep early, wake up early and jog/have breakfast/study/whatever.

I have yet to have more than 1 class on a Friday, and I greatly prefer it that way.

I'm torn between how I schedule things, though. For work purposes, I tend to prefer to load up on TR so I can work MWFSU. For school purposes, I like to have things in the mornings M-R so I can be done early, have time to work, time to do homework, and generally socialize.

This semester, I'm stuck with MW night classes and TR all day classes, plus two jobs. Let me tell you -- I would prefer NOT to have another schedule like this one!

cool thanks for all the input and more comments are great!

What is the average amount of courses per week? During Quarter and Semester Systems.

For quarter system, usually three or four. People who take five (fairly unheard of) are masochists.

For semester, usually five or six. I know several people who have done seven, because its much easier to deal with seven classes over 16 or 18 weeks than it is to deal with five classes in 10 weeks.

All just depends on the unit distribution though.

semester system here. most people take four or five classes, six if one of them's something easy like dance.

coming into college I was all "yeah! no class Fridays!" but having long studios made the other four days hell.

some classes with a lot of listening and needing time to absorb things (like art history and Spanish) work better on MWF rather than TTH. it's easier to concentrate for shorter periods of time. that's just me though.

I try to put 1-2 hour gaps in the middle of the day. it's pretty useful, as it gives me time to put away materials/pieces, or get them for the next class. or eat lunch and chill. or finish up something for the next class. it ends up saving my life sometimes.

and I try to have classes start somewhere between 9 and 11; any earlier or later will throw me off (I'll be more likely to sleep through it)

Semester system here too!
Honestly, I found my schedule last semester to kind of suck. My MWF were fine, 1 class that started at 1 o'clock but it was sooooooo hard to get motivated to go. T/H was rough because I had classes at 830, 10, and then nothing until 230. There was a lot of space and I couldn't stand it.
This semester is better. MF I'm done at 10 (I love 50 minute classes :-D), W is my rough day, I have a once-a-week class that doesn't start until 1 but I always find some way to occupy myself. T/H are good, only one of my classes has more than a 10 minute break (it's about 20-30 minutes long but I go to class early and do homework)

I definately prefer morning. Even though I hate waking up for them, I love knowing that I'm done some days at 10. And I'd really love to just go MWF because those are 50-minute class days, and let's face it: an hour and 15 minute classes are kind of tedious to me. I think if I had night classes (which I may have to take in the coming semesters) I'd be more likely to skip.

I like classes early as possible (8am is fine, im a morning person) and having it back to back. I don't really like gaps because I know once I bum back to my dorm I'd be too lazy to go to class again.....I don't like late classes, because recently there has been a few cases of rape on campus......
