So im pretty much a big noob at faxing and its time to fax stuff to the financial aid office...My basic question is for the cover and closing sheet...AM i supposed to attach it like a sandwich COVER PAGE -> TAX RETURN -> CLOSING PAGE? And am I suppose to fax the whole packet as one fax or each page separately? How does USC see the bottom two documents (tax return & closing page) if I send it as one fax?

I believe most fax machines on the receiving end make their own "cover page" that shows things link what number it came from, how many pages it is, the date, etc...

So I would send just the page they need (with your name, return fax address, phone number, USC ID, etc...). Their fax machine will put a basic cover page on to separate it from other faxes.

usc recommends sending it with their cover page for faster service though, my question is do i fax it as a packet? i just dont understand how they would be able to ssee the bottom two documents if the cover page is covering it, i know nothing of fax machines

Oh, now I understand your question. A typical fax machine takes in each page separately. If you put all of the pages on the insertion portion of the fax machine, rollers will draw in each page separately and fax it as one fax.

If you have one of those fax machines that is a copier/scanner/fax all-in-one, I have absolutely no idea how that would work.

ah i see the light, thanks foil

No problem :p
