Hi, it is my first time being here and I would like some advice. I am currently attending at a csu and frankly I enjoy the heck out of it but I think that was because I had made great friends there. The only thing is, the csu I go to isn’t as well known or well like most csu’s. I am currently finished with my freshman year but I don’t know if this school really fits me and what I want to do in life. (A little background on me) I started off as a History major with the intend of becoming a teacher but now after my first year of college I met some great foreign exchange students and it opened my mind. This proceeded into the thought of majoring in international business. I am just really lost at the moment and am hoping anyone who has changed into international business or a person who is a business major, give me some statements from their personal experience. And I may transfer into a CC to UC to achieve this.
Make sure you intern heavily during your senior year.
Your path of least resistance, lowest cost and shortest time to degree is probably staying where you are. Truth be told, nearly all the CSUs offer solid business degrees that are well respected by employers, particularly those nearby. I bet your CSU is one of them. 4 years there will allow you to make the most of what they have to offer and really distinguish yourself. Get a couple of officer slots a in business clubs or a biz fraternity. If you don’t like the existing selection, you could create one - which looks really good. Study abroad for a semester or more, become bilingual, Get a job or internship at a multi-national company. Those will all make you stand out as an applicant for your first career gig.
Transferring to a UC from a CSU is possible but, admission into those with business programs is super competitive and most seats are reserved for CC applicants. Just the right classes, a 3.6 and a compelling application might get you into Irvine for example.
The best business programs in the CSUs are at CP SLO and SDSU. The same is true for both of them but, they also allocate most of their transfer spots to local applicants - as a non local CC transfer, they both have a higher bar than UCI. Going down the list, are CSULB, Chico and Fullerton which probably attainable from another CSU with a 3.4+.They too must allocate the vast majority of their transfer seats to CCs and offer the most preference to local CC applicants.
As someone who has hired lots of people into big, global companies, I’d take an applicant with lots of interesting and relevant experience at CSUX over someone who got their BS at UCI (or SLO or SDSU) but, have no other.experience.
Just my 2 cents of course…
What about Haas tho
