Fearful of getting rescinded

Senior year second semester is going extremely poorly for me and I have pretty much straight Cs (before I was basically an A student). This shouldn’t be bad enough to catch the eye of admissions right? (I’ll be attending UPenn Wharton in the fall).

Are you kidding? I would be surprised if UPenn wouldn’t rescind for a 2.0 second semester. Does your school put semester grades or only a final year end grade on transcripts?

Why are you letting senioritis get the best of you?

Semester grades; first semester senior year grades were really good though.

I’ve been adding hours in the last couple months on my part-time job so that might explain part of it.

Over a month ago you only had 2 Cs. Why is it getting worse? You need to get your head in the game.

You may get a warning letter from Penn: “We are disappointed in your academic progress” sort of thing. Some schools will let you enroll but on academic probation. If any of those C’s become D’s then you may well be rescinded.

At the very least I’d work hard and pull it together to do well on finals. Keep in mind that Wharton has a long list of students who would come off the waitlist in one second and take your spot. Playtime is over. I can’t fathom why you would you would put your hard work and accomplishments over the past four years in jeopardy this way.

If you really get straight C’s as final gtades, you may be in trouble. It suggests that you might not be ready for college.

I would get some tutoring for final exams if I were you. Do all you can to avoid any D’s, and reduce the number of C’s. Most schools will let C’s slide in, but I don’t know what they will do if you get all C’s.

Honestly, if you get all C’s, I would say that the most important person to ask about attending Penn is you. Do you really want to be in type of academic environment that you are going to find at Penn? The courses are very rigorous at Penn, and significantly more difficult than most high schools. If they don’t rescind you, then maybe you should consider taking a light schedule and not working, for your first semester to focus on grades. You really do not want to get off to a poor start at Penn or any similar school.

The poor judgment you’re showing is exactly the red flag that Penn equates to an unsuccessful student. Maybe you should defer a year? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/dartmouth-college/1669060-acceptance-suspended-p1.html

Here’s a ED student at Dartmouth who let his/her grades sink. Was told to take a year off and get some maturity. Did so, now has enrolled and doing well. Maybe you should consider the same path.

You will not get rescinded for one or two C’s but you probably might if you have ALL C’s
