Feasible to consider Stanford..rather...Stanford consider me?!

So i'll simply do the usual I suspect....I'm a now a Senior at one of the most competitive high schools in the Bush state. I would like to major in either biomedical engineering or economics...or both if possible!!

So Here it goes:

Basic "Number" Stats

SATI-- 720 Math/660 Verbal.....i know....this kinda kills my chance(and a lot of other things), but I'm hoping my ACT score will make up for it
ACT -- june 21st scores come out....
SATII's-- Chem-- june 20th scores...but i think high 700's
Math IIC-- " "high 700's
Physics--" "high 700's
GPA-- not too sure maybe 3.7 or 3.8? don't know yet...but I got a 4.0 this semester...that should help
Class Rank: top 7 or 10%, 40 or 50 something... again, don't know yet
AP-- chem and csci still awaiting...
Courses: all AP's...all A's these past two semesters with 7 AP's

EC's

I hope to do a lot more research in college .....!!!
Yea...so I'm thinking that my class rank and sat I numbers will be the death of me...but assuming I do well on the SATII's and ACT's...please evaluate my chances.

Thanks for reading this guys. I truly appreciate those of you who put time and effort in actually writing laudable responses!

honestly, if you do not break a 1400, your stanford chances are "killed." Stanford could fill the entire class with kids 1500+ and your accomplishments are great. However, that "low" SAT score for Stanford will hurt, however, I have seen kids with lower scores than you get accepted. However, the odds are against you.

so a 35 on the ACT won't make up for it??..i hope it wil...

Your academic stats are weak but your extra-curriculas and awards are outstanding. With better academic stats I think you have an excellent chance.

Your research, is to say, the least, stunning and EXCELLENT. Get some of your mentor types to write you glowing recommendations and brag about your intelligence--that might cover for the SAT.

Your rank and GPA are well below average but if you truly got all A's junior year with 7 AP classes, then that's impressive. Especially if you go 4-5 on all of those tests.

You have a reasonable, but small chance. Go EA and see what happens. Your science stuff is very impressive but it doesn't make up for the lackluster academics.

"-Siemens Westinghouse Semifinalist -- 10th
-Siemens Westinghouse Regional Finalist - 11th"

"You have a reasonable, but small chance. Go EA and see what happens. Your science stuff is very impressive but it doesn't make up for the lackluster academics."

If those were biomed eng. projects, I'd say you have a good chance. I didn't even make it to semifinalist, and I got in...(CS)

well...thanks for being honest, really. Well, throughout this process so far, the thing I have learned is that things I once thought were once my "awesomeness" are truly not. This helps a lot in the essay process because I now understand that the kids who get accepted to Stanford type schools are soo amazingly balanced that it's hard to comprehend. ....At least I can try better in college...wherever it may be. And again...thanks for being straight-forward

10th grade project was on cooling in vibrant media...and 11th grade was a biomed eng project about touch...

"the kids who get accepted to Stanford type schools are soo amazingly balanced that it's hard to comprehend"

Does that mean I was accepted by mistake? LOL

hahah....I don't think Stanford would have accepted you if you were not...sooo, not it wasn't a mistake

what are you majoring in tanonev?

Computer Science (click on my name to visit my web page, with my CS "Projects" lol)

But yeah, I had no balance whatsoever...no sports (school or outside), no ASB, no clubs, basically no life...my parents were actually quite shocked that I got in, to be honest :p

Q.Basic.....awesome!!
I haven't actually experimented with it too much...but I didn't see anything in C/C++.....on that note...have you played around with C#...wow. Sure, it isn't as controllable as C/C++, but hey, what is?
Plus, it allows mostly the same functionality with little drawback.
I'll probably end up ranting about this later after I compare the speed differences, though I expect them not to be too huge.

To Agrophobic: I actually competed as part of a team...Siemens only lets seniors do individual projects. And Intel is a different different competition altogether. Intel is the competition reserved only for seniors. And "why are you taking only 2 AP exams when you have gotten A's in 7 APs," is there truly a purpose to take & AP's, it costs a lot, and I'm not exactly rich.

What state are you applying from and, if you don't mind me asking, what is your ethnicity?

"honestly, if you do not break a 1400, your stanford chances are "killed." Stanford could fill the entire class with kids 1500+ and your accomplishments are great. However, that "low" SAT score for Stanford will hurt, however, I have seen kids with lower scores than you get accepted. However, the odds are against you."

Uhm, that is so not true at all. I got in with a 1360. I didn't do S/W like he did either, but that NIH grant and RSI did help.

I'm from texas...and my ethnicity...I was hoping you guys could talk about chances without knowing. But since you asked, i'm indian male.

Ah, an ORM (is that a valid acronym?)...just means you have to work harder :p

Ah, I see. Well that's going to make it quite a bit harder. Still a good chance though.

haha...ORM...nice.
