when do you think CALS will give its decisions for people who were deferred... feb 15 or later? I heard that CALS starts giving its decision on the 15th, but is it through the mail or online???

I believe the rolling system emails you the decision, since it's not available on a specific date at a specific time. They will also mail you the old fashioned way. You can also check your status online at admissions.cornell.edu, but that might get tedious. I suggest you relax about this whole thing, stressful as it is, since you dont know when your decision is coming. It could not arrive 'till april. Good luck, and enjoy the 2nd half Sr year, dammit!

I think they look at deferred people last, after they have "gotten a sense of the applicant pool"...so probably not in Feb.

omg no wait i thought they would look at the deferred ppl first...they usually just defer ppl b/c they want to see their midyear grades i mean thats why i was deferred so i'm assuming they will have my decision really soon

I've always been told that they defer people because they think they could/could not be up to par with the rest of the applicant pool and they want to compare them to the regular decision people as a whole...so they wait till they've gotten a sense of the caliber of that applicant pool before they look at defers.

Maybe I'm wrong. :D I hope so...for your sake and mine! LOL

I hope so for your sake too, Nicky! You ARE Cornell's biggest fan. :)

Aww that is so sweet of you to say!!!!! :D I have made it my life's work to show my enthusiasm for Cornell, hence the forthcoming Cornell TATTOO. :D

"omg no wait i thought they would look at the deferred ppl first...they usually just defer ppl b/c they want to see their midyear grades i mean thats why i was deferred so i'm assuming they will have my decision really soon"

how do you know that? i wouldn't hope so because they might just wait-list you or defer you for guaranteed sophmore-year admission

no Nicky you are right, they don't defer you JUST because they want to see your mid-year grades because if they did, then they could just defer anyone and everyone. they want to get a sense of the applicant pool, so it probably won't be until early-mid April that we hear

Does anyone think its possible to hear on the 15th or before February ends?

If you weren't deferred and just applied regular, then I'd say it is entirely plausible. :D

Cornell mom here. I've been on these boards since last year since d is freshmen in ILR. This is how I remember it. Rolling results were not on 2/15 but a few days later. You'll all know because someone will post their acceptance. Even though some of the colleges offer rolling admissions, most kids got acceptance letters in April and not during Feb or March period. It also seemed that CALS kids didn't hear until March but that's based on what I remember from reading the boards last year. I also know a # of kids who were deferred during ED process and were later admitted in April. Cornell does seem to appreciate that you applied ED. so I guess if all things are equal with the RD pool of applicants, they seem to take a # of deferred students (Unlike many other colleges). Good luck to all and RELAX. Most of you are not going to hear from Cornell until April. So listen to Sparticus and enjoy the rest of your Senior Year. Marny.

NOOOOOOOOO!! THEY HAVE TO COME OUT TOMORROW!!!!

LOL Have patience, Marines. I'm anxious too, but we must have patience!! I CAN YELL TOO!!!!!

i called in today to ask about the rolling admissions process and the rep said that cornell's method was different, and that most students will not hear back until april. i want to hear back nooww.

omg ewwww i can't wait until april...i thought i would've heard in feb...ughhhh

Has anyone heard yet?!?!

They usually update in the evenings, but I doubt we're going to hear today.

Won't stop me from checking.

Did anyone log on?

aaaaa12, how do you know you were deferred so they could see your mid-year grades?
