Feb 2009 ACT Math

keep adding 12 to 1776 :)

the faster way is to add 120 over and over again until you get closer to the dates that were listed, and then just add 12

because every 12th year is the same

Damn, I wish I had skipped a couple of the geometry questions so that I could have done the Chinese calendar one, because based on the discussion of the problem in this thread it was just modular arithmetic.

I think I only got one wrong on the Math cuz i ran out of time. lol. I'm hoping minus 1 isa 36, which i think will. :)

I didn't have time to answer four of them... the stadium one, the weirrd numberline "b" one, the law of cosines one...and ionno, something else.
I'm hoping they were all C/H. :D

ya i was confused about the 45 degree one!

For the stadium question, I ended up putting (30-2n)(60+n). As to why I did this, I just think it made sense.
Also, for the law of sines, I put E.

Haha, ditto!

The law of cosines one was E. None of the other choices made any sense and you did not need the law of sines. The stadium was (30+x)(60-2x) because as you add salespeople, their average output decreases by two times the amount of additional people.

Who remembers what they got for the trig problem with the boats and the cardinal directions?

was the answer west of north??

^ I said 45 degrees east of south because that was the angle oif depression i think. im not 100% sure tho

was it me,or was the math section hard today?

..but the thing was north of it

i think it was west of north...can anyone confirm??

I put 45 and then the two directions opposite to what was in the question. So 45 South and either east or west, don't remember it.

But I'm not sure of my answer at all.

i put like 45 something,can't remember,lol.

I agree, KoreanBoi. I took a practice test last night and missed 5 on the math section. I feel like I missed 8-10 today!

i put 45 west of north

yeah, same here, well, since the reading was a little easier than expected, maybe that will even it out.

i think it was 45 west of south.......
for the worker one wasn't it (30+x) (80-2x)? i don't remember 60-2x being a choice...unless i read it wrong....

thats wat i put
