Feb 8th Chapman U Open House Launch of Huell Howser’s California’s Gold Collection

<p>Chapman University will throw open the doors of its Huell Howser collections with a free public event on Friday, February 8 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. celebrating the life and work of the late, beloved California broadcasting legend. The public can meet the stars and sample the foods at an open house that will also feature exhibitions of Huell’s show.</p>

<p>Chapman University, which forged close ties with the late broadcasting icon, will spotlight stars of “California’s Gold” live and in person, food from Huell’s favorite eateries, exhibition of collections, presentation of posthumous honorary doctorate and much more.</p>

<p>The day’s events kick off at 2 p.m. with Chapman President Jim Doti presenting a posthumous honorary doctorate in Huell’s memory......</p>

<p>More than 1,000 fans of Huell Howser traveled from all corners of the state to Chapman University on Friday to remember the legacy of the beloved California icon.</p>

<p>“We’re not here today to celebrate Huell. That’s the last thing he would have wanted,” Chapman President Jim Doti said. “We’re here to celebrate ‘California’s Gold,’ the people and places that make this state so great. That’s what Huell wanted.”</p>

<p>“When I first walked onto Chapman, it was an immediate transformational experience for me,” Howser said during a speech at the school last year. “I knew this is where I wanted to leave my legacy.”</p>
