Are you or did you feel it? How are you or did you get through it?

Come on, 90% of the people on this forum have or are going through the admissions process

hi there . i applied to uf but since fsu has fashion it is my first choice. this takes the edge off. i know how you feel though. february is a long time to wait and even if you get admitted intot second choices you cant get excited about them..do you think uf will send rejections early to those who have no chance. they should it would be the kind thing to do..dontcha think?

People get through the wait by supporting each other and spending hours on CC reading up on the old posts.

Here is last years regular decison 1 decisions thread:

Well, only 164 days left until February 15th. I'm soooo anxious.

It has been getting to me lately. I think the hardest thing is preventing yourself from going off into thought about all the different things you're going to do at UF and all the little things that you are looking forward to about it. It just hurts that my second choice is FSU and it feels like such a huge plunge from one to the other...

Thanks a lot for the link seiclan. Just the anticipation in the first couple posts got me really nervous. It reminds me of when collegeboard didn't release the June scores till 5 am (Needless to say, I waited). The difference is this is won't be just a test to help your chances, this is IT :/.

kaitlinc, I think seeing that number is the most depressing thing that has happened to me all week :(...Damn the removal of early decision!!!!!!

It's so hard to send in applications to schools that aren't UF. I was on allposters.com today buying art for my room and I couldn't help but plan what kinds of things I'd want on my dorm room wall at UF. It's always UF and not any of the other 7 schools I'm applying to.

I'm really anxious about February 15. Sometimes it feels like it'll be here tomorrow and other times I feel like I'll never get to it.

vincanity

i am sure you will get in, but if you don't fsu is really good. i know UF has the better academic reputation and I suppose if you grow up in florida as a Gators fan, it makes it that much harder to go to FSU.

from my oos perspective , uf and fsu both seem like fine schools. I know in florida there is some degree of friction between the two, but we have been to both and both have some advantages over each other. we also thought ucf was nice and seems to be on the rise, although it doesn't yet seem to be in the same league as fsu or uf.

i think you can get a good education at both and have some fun along the way. don't sell fsu short.

good luck

Does anyone know how the feb 15th date was arrived upon? Is this typical for schools that don't have ED, EA or rolling admissions.

I don't know about typical...most up north private universities have late March to mid April notification dates for their regular decisions. This is UF's first year doing one admission round. February 15 is sorta right in the middle of their old dates (Dec 7ish for ED, Jan. 27 for RD1 and late March for RD2).

If only UF had the same system that FSU has:

? I just called UF to report a schedule change and the rep told me that the only way to go about letting them know was snailmailing them the change that I was making. 2 q's:
1) Wasn't this done online?
2) Do I include a reason for the change from an AP class to a regular slack class?

When my D changed her schedule...way before school even started, UF told her that she should have her guidance counselor send them a note. Since she hadn't had her transcript sent yet, her schedule change was ON the official transcript that went to UF. But, she was changing from a regular class to an honors class. I wouldn't bother with a reason for your change. It is what it is.

The thing is they've had my transcript since July 1st because of the Hispanic weekend. I guess I'll speak to my terrible counselor to see how to go about telling them. If only I could just not report it... :x

Probably just safest to send a note via snail mail (to Office of Admissions - 201 Criser Hall - PO Box 114000 - Gainesville, FL 32611-4000)with your name, birthdate and UFID number on the top. Write that it is a notification of your senior schedule change and list your senior year classes as they are now.

Just um curious...whats the penalty for not reporting the change?

i doubt they will care...as long as you are taking some other AP/IB courses then you will be fine...if you are nervous about it just call them

I made some class changes after I sent in my application and didn't send any notice. I think as long as the next transcript sent in doesn't show a big drop in GPA, and you are still taking an overall strong set of classes, you will be okay. However, if there are several changes to easier classes or they detect a real slacker year - your offer could be rescended. I don't know if there is an official policy or requirement to send notice, but I never heard anything from them about my changes.

hmm I don't believe I will be reporting the change :X
