I am confused about the expectations for the ACT essay. I only wrote 4 paragraphs (as I did for the SAT). Do you need 5 to get in the mid-30s? And I didn’t use literary examples to support my thesis. I was going to throw one in the conclusion, but I ran out of time. I pretty much just ranted…

You don’t necessarily need 4 paragraphs to score high in the writing portion. You just need to make sure you do the following:
Restate the prompt in the inroduction along with your caim ( Try and include two different examples)
Transition into a body paragraph explaining your point of view on the prompt.
Either in your 3rd or 4th paragraph - depending up on how many you have- be sure to include a counterargument, explaining that you understand any opposing sides against the prompt, and your claim.
Incorporate a conclusion restating everything you talked about and restating yourt overall perspective on the prompt.

Unfortunately you cannot score near 9,10, and 11 without any examples. The purpose of using examples is to support your claim. If you have no evidence it is more of just ranting which is not what the purpose of the writing portion is.

I got a 10 on my writing.

Hope this helps.

was that the question where it said euro games popularity had increased, THANKS TO THE INTERNET or something liek that?

Yeah I don’t recall the passage talking about the internet though…Just on how to play the game.

^I put yes, it explains how the games are played for that one rhetorical question. (I think people on CC are saying that’s wrong, though.)

anyway, I am actually talking about a grammar question with the “thanks to the internet.”

the thanks to the internet question i think was the original, and i put no change, cuz it was asking something like which answer best fits w/ the sentence before it, and i think sentence before it was talking about it’s growth.

Ohh. That question stumped me because all the other optional answers were confusing. I left it as it was.
Do you remember that question in the english section regarding the word placement in the sentence. Something about being a professional singer, or maybe it was another word choice, but I wasn’t sure as to where it should be placed because none of the options made sense to me. It was the passage about the singer/ undercover agent?

How quick does the ACT usually release the scores? The act website says from feb 28-april 8th…that is a pretty broad time frame.

on february 28th at 12:00 they’ll be up. i would say this is true 98% percent of the time ( given you do the calculations for various time zones )

Are the scores up? I can’t find them.

They come up at 12 a.m. central and 1 a.m. eastern

Ahh okay, thank you.
I’m used to things revolving around EST.

I for some received my score four days ago through the mail. They accidentally sent me early scoring, but i don’t care!! I scored 3 points higher and got a 29. My options are now wide open!

I took the ACT last spring and got results in the mail on the Friday before they posted online. So far this year I don’t have them in the mail and they’re still not available online. I expected to be able to see them first thing this morning.

Should I take the April ACT? My score decreased by one point. I’m going to be busy from studying AP US though…should I just take the June ACT?
