FEBRUARY 2015 ACT DISCUSSION THREAD

Hey I started this thread because I saw that there wasn’t one yet for this test date. I was just wondering what books are you using to study and what score are you trying to get?

I’m using the Real ACT Prep Book and the Barron’s 36. I am hoping for a 32 on this ACT

I’m also using barrons act 36, but I’m not getting much time to prep due to school work. I’m hoping for a 30.

I am doing ACT tutoring and using the Real ACT Prep Book. The good thing about the tutoring is that I can focus on my weaknesses instead of, for example, relearning math that I already know about. So far my in my most recent practice test I got a 33 (31 E 34 M 34 R 34 S).

My friend gave me her Real ACT Prep Guide book to study with. I’m just taking practice tests and getting better with the time limit. My goal is a 31. This will be the first (and hopefully the last) time I take the ACT.

First ACT for me. I hate the SAT its the devil. Not really sure what to study lol. Hoping for a 32.

The best way to study for the ACT is to practice with REAL ACT tests. There are 5 tests in the Red ACT Book, 3rd Edition. ACT released several tests in booklet form.

Time each practice session to simulate the real test.

English 75 questions in 45 min.
Math 60 questions in 60 min.
Reading 40 questions in 35 min.
Science 40 questions in 35 min

Score your test and review only what you got wrong after each practice session.

I suggest the following schedule:

Take 1 section each school night/with review for 4 nights/week.
Twice per month on a Saturday or Sunday take a full ACT test/with review.

I just read this article: http://www.thecollegesolution.com/is-the-act-getting-harder/
And I am kind of worried that doing the Red Book for most of my practice will not prepare me enough for the test.
Do you guys agree with the things said in this article?

I was also worried about that. But i’ve read here in college confidential that the red book is still one of the most accurate practice test in comparison to the actual test. I’m not certain about that though. Thats my first act.

The best way to study for the ACT is to practice with REAL ACT tests. There are 5 tests in the Red ACT Book, 3rd Edition. That is why it is a good place to start. Also, the answers are explained. There are several companion books/websites that use the Red Book as a basis. It is essential.

With that said, using more recently ACT released tests from booklets /TIRs and the practice test at http://www.actstudent.org/sampletest/ is reccomended one you have completed the Red Book.

Does anyone know where I can get more practice tests? I’ve already done all of the red book ones

Well we’re only about 3 weeks away…

why is this thread so inactive???

No clue. Maybe because everyone is studying so hard lol?

Also taking the ACT… My first time. Is it weird that I like the SAT more?

I’ve never taken the SAT, but it sounds likes it’s worse than the ACT

Why is this thread still dead??? The ACT is a week away!!!

“While general discussion about the ACT test is allowed by ACT, discussion of test questions may violate your agreement with ACT. Please be thoughtful in your posts and replies.”

That probably scares some people off, but I don’t know why.

I’m really nervous, guys. I’m very bad at math so I feel like I’ll probably get a horrible score cause of that. Who knows, though? I’m not allowed to use calculators in school so let’s hope that will help me!

Hey everyone!!!

Taking the test on the 7th. So nervous. I need a 30+ and I went from a 27 to a 32 on practice tests. So maybe I’ll get it (:

What are you guys doing during the last week
