***February 2016 ACT Discussion Thread***

Already stressing me out.

Did u use any vocabulary for the section of READING and ENGLISH?
Thks!

I am taking. Just got the Princeton 2016 book to review. I made a 27 baseline back in October but have taken several practice tests, mainly being 29s with one 30 thrown in there (mainly just improving on reading). Hoping I can get actual “studying” done instead of just practice tests and be comfortably in the 30-32 range and 33+ by April and June.

I have not registered yet – should I take writing? I took it in October and got a 24, and my state pays for us to take this + writing in April so I’m not sure if it’s worth it. My college requires writing, but if my highest MC composite is without writing, will I be okay since I will have done writing at least twice?

Retaking this. Bought the ACT book to help me.

First time in, and hopefully last time out. Aiming for 36, have to improve from a 32 baseline. Yay for this thread! May the curve be with us all!

I am taking this, first time taking the test. Will take a diagnostic soon. Anyone have any recommendations for books? And high quality practice tests other than Red Book? Especially for reading.

Got a 29 in December… hoping for a 30+ this time

First time taking. Hoping to get 34+ this time. Now I just have to push myself to actually prep…

What are the best books for prep?

I used the Red book and ■■■■■■■■.com

@MariaMark how’d you do?

Ready to perfect my skills on this act

Really stressed out about the new writing

Got a 32 (32 in all sections) freshman year now sophomore year hoping for 33+

I currently have a 29 in writing. Should I take the ACT with WRITING the next time around or just take it with NO WRITING?

@clichescreenname what’s your composite?

Why is everyone stressed out about writing? I heard that the only change is there will be four scorers instead of two. Are the scoring rubrics changing too?

Got a 34 last time, going for 35. Not messing around with the writing until after my composite is solid. I have heard that most colleges don’t care much about writing. I have to take it in April anyways during a school day.

Using the Red Book and practice tests. My achilles heel is math- I struggle with solving the hard types of problems that don’t come up much in school. I’ve been improving steadily in my practice tests so far. However, I haven’t encountered many math problems that are “head-scratchers.” Anyone have good online resources for math help?

Ugh i got a 33 and a 34 but I need higher :((
hopefully this month brings me good results

Taking it in February! First time taking it!
Where do you guys take your diagnostic tests? Thanks in advance :slight_smile:
