Study plans??
It sucks that New Yorkers cannot take the February date. It is like the perfect time of year to take it IMO.
^NYers can take the ACT in Feb. They just have to do it in a nearby state like CT or NJ.
Not a big deal, given that there are students in other countries that have to travel outside of their own country to take the ACT.
All that I am saying is that it is annoying to have to drive for two hours to get to Pennsylvania and then drive for two hours back home, so I will not be taking the February ACT.
Hopefully the test has a good curve… will be my first time taking it… Aiming for 32.5 rounding up to 33
Why do they not have the Feb ACT in NY?
First time taking it too. I’m really worried I want to get a score of at least a 30. PLAN predicted that I’d get anywhere from 28-31 so I think I can do it.
What prep are you guys doing?
@kassh4 I have no idea why not! I think that it over some petty issue: a law that requires the test booklet from every exam date to be released. However, the September date is still allowed in NY and the test book for that date is never released.
yeah I am hoping to make it in the mid 30s (33) this time. Hope this test is eazy breezy
The test is approaching
It will be my first time taking (Im a sophomore)
lol im in eighth grade and im taking this test.
Fancy seeing you around here, @Vandy2k17
It was O.K, but jesus that last passage on the science section was the work of the demon down under. May the person who designed that portion find solace for their unholy heart.
Ranked in terms of difficulty
- Science
- Math
- Reading
- English
The English portion was enjoyable as was the reading (in terms of content). Math was challenging but doable, it started off strong and ended off with some tricky questions. Couldn’t answer the last 2 because of time.
Knowing my luck, I’ll probably do well in some parts but worse in others compared to my last ACT. In the end Ill end up with the same composite score. Mark my words hahhaha
Wow, your thoughts make me question whether we got the same test or not…
The science section was ridiculously easy imo, but I think it was thanks to AP Bio that I was able to understand the last passage fairly quickly.
Agree with you on Math, didn’t know two problems, so rip my 36. Overall, not too bad.
Reading was a pretty easy, maybe 1-2 wrong.
Surprised you thought English was easy as well, I always feel like I got 3-4 wrong just from sheer volume. That section always makes me feel uncomfortable.
I would rank them
- Math
- English
- Science
- Reading
Did you do the the essay? Mine was absolutely god-awful.
I think I did well on everything except reading. I think I bombed reading
Rank in order from hardest to easiest
- Reading
- English
- Science
- Math
- I thought writing was easy to pick examples and talk about. Will probably get a bad score though because I chose the conservative option. Graders will probably not like it.
Was hoping for a composite of 32 or 33, but I think I got 26-28 on reading so I probably wont
I took it for the first time and I rank them (hardest to easiest)
- Science 2.Reading
- Math 4.English
I had a few question in each section where i had to fill in a random circle, and really worried that it’s gonna be in the low 20s.
It seems like for all of us there was that “one” hard subject, so that does beg the question on how the curve will be, huh?
The last ACT was also unusually hard, and it turned out to have a very lenient curve- I got my highest score from it.
For me the last questions on the science test were insanely hard. A girl kept coughing extremely loud so it was hard to focus but the questions required more in depth thinking and examining of the data in order to answer imo. Math was a little harder than I expected but not too much. I think I did very well on the English and reading. Although I did find it odd that I finished the reading so quickly but the passages were somewhat interesting and easy to understand.
I loved writing the essay. It was the perfect prompt for me.
I agree with @AGoodFloridian 's ranking. I ran out of time on the science section…
