February 2nd auditions

Anyone auditioning this Saturday? Bring your boots. Central Indiana is supposed to get hit with some heavy snow on Friday!

My d is auditioning on the 2nd...we are watching the weather!

For those who auditioned on Feb. 2, has anyone heard anything back from IU yet? How many auditioned on that day?

They send you a letter the week after auditions. Either a no..maybe..or yes. My D got a no.
I don't know how many auditioned that day, but around 300 will end up auditioning there and they said they only accept 10.

There was a morning and afternoon session of students. I'm going to guess 35-40 in each group? Students who got yes's and maybe's heard back a week later; rejections heard back by the middle of the second week. I believe there is one more audition remaining.

Wow, 10 is a really small number. What did you think of IU's mt program? I know it's new with no proven track record yet.

IU has an amazing program. They have had a BA theatre program for many years. They just decided to go one step further. So even though it is a new BFA program, MT is not new to IU.

Did anyone receive a "yes" from this audition?

Songbirdsmom - I have heard of one acceptance (boy) and 1 deferral (girl).

I got deferred. Do you know who the boy is? I imagine you'd have to be pretty amazing to be accepted on the spot!

My son is deferred from October audition.

I got deferred so I guess im pretty excited
i loved indiana when i was there its beautiful
so we'll just have to wait and see!

Songbirdsmom & hslevin - I just checked with my D and it turns out I had my schools mixed up; the boy I referred to was actually accepted at Ithaca. Sorry for causing confusion :).

No problem.

Oh that's ok. :)
I fell in love with IU too...I wonder how many people they defer? The wait is killing me!

If you flew into Indianapolis...how did you get to the campus? How much of a walk is it from the area where they audition to the surrounding town of Bloomington? Any suggestions of good restaurants to eat at?

There are a couple of ways to get from Indy to Bloomington. It's an hour drive. You can rent a car or you can take the Bloomington shuttle -- Bloomington Shuttle Service. It's a very easy drive.

It's a healthy walk from the theatre building to the surrounding town but you won't have any challenges doing it if the weather is OK. Just nab a campus map and you basically just walk through the older part of the campus and it will take you right to the very charming town of Bloomington. Should take you 10 minutes to walk.

There are a variety of restaurants throughout the town -- the typical sports taverns with good hamburgers, ethnic restaurants, some chains and other local choices. Most are pretty decent. A great place for a B-Town breakfast/brunch is the Village Deli smack dab in the middle of Kirkwood Rd. It's very fun to go there before a game -- very lively and very IU!! Food is great! Be sure to wear red!!

The campus is beautiful and B-Town is very charming. You'll have a great visit.

Thank you so much. The shuttle was a great suggestion. What is the road like from the airport to Bloomington - is it a busy interstate or what?

Route 37 from Indy to Bloomington is a 4 lane divided highway, with a handful of stoplights along the way...about 45-50 miles from Indy. Any easy drive...but be careful of the highway patrol that likes to check things out along the way. Our D is a freshman in theater there and we have already made several trips along 37! If you have any other questions...other restaurant suggestions...places to stay...just ask!

how many people have you heard of being deferred? so far of all the people i have spoken to its you and i
lol i hope thats the case that would make me quite happy (although its probably not)
indiana is definitely tied with first for me with michigan which i find out about soon... ahh!
good luck to the both of us
