February Connect with Tech

My D and H will be attending the Feb Connect with Tech. From the info I've seen, the program ends at 3pm on Monday. They have a 5:40pm flight back and won't be checking bags, but will probably have to print out their boarding passes at a kiosk unless it can be done at H's hotel or D's host's room.

They are currently renting a car to visit family at the beginning of the weekend. I think it would be best to take the public transportation back to the airport on Monday to avoid traffic on the highways. Can someone give ball park ideas of how long a drive would take from campus to airport and also public transportation at that time of day?

Are there any rental car companies close to campus to drop the car off on Sunday? I didn't find one. Assume if they go that route it would make sense to bring the car back to the airport on Sunday morning and then take the public transportation back to campus for the beginning of the session.

Currently have H reserved at the Marriot, D and I stayed there last year on our first visit, but if not having a car it seems the Hampton Inn might be more convenient. Any input appreciated.

One last thing! When we registered for the program the payment site didn't have this year's dates active yet, so someone in the admissions office said pay for any date. The actual admissions reservation shows the correct date. Since the Feb program is now full, if anyone has received any recent info on this program I would appreciate a heads up so we can follow up with admissions.

Thanks!

I would budget 45 minutes for MARTA, but it drops you off inside the airport terminal. Driving can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 45 minutes at that time of day (20 minutes without traffic), and after you deal with dropping off the car, you’re probably looking at an hour.

I don’t know of any rental car companies around campus. Personally, I would drop off the car and take MARTA to campus and back.

Without a car, I would stay either at the Georgia Tech hotel or the Marriott Renaissance on West Peachtree. Those are both very convenient to campus.

Thanks CFB, I’m encouraging the MARTA option. Glad the times don’t sound too bad, I realize there can always be a catch like an accident.
