Hey guys. Deferred applicant here
Just wondering how much the February update impacts the application for regular. I’m kind of assuming I’m not getting in because there won’t really be anything to add to my application, and I had my worst grades in all of high school the first trimester (MIT didn’t see my first tri grades during early, but will during Feb update). To be deferred and then later accepted, do you have to have some kind of major improvement or change?
I don’t think you necessarily need a huge improvement in order to be accepted; they just want a chance to look at your application within the context of the entire applicant pool. Don’t worry too much about the February update; it is true that an unsightly transcript won’t be the most attractive thing but ultimately they are looking at you holistically. Good luck!
