Hello,
I've noticed "Federal SEO Grant" offered in the amount of ~$1800 from one school.
The concern is that other schools that I've been accepted to does not offer this "federal grant."

Does anyone know why? Could this be an error? Federal Pell Grant is same for all schools though...

It’s a SEOG grant, and each school has limited funds available for this grant, which is why it may be offered to you at one school and not at another.

[Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)](http://www.fseog.com/)

The SEOG is what is called campus based federal aid. This means each school is given a very limited amount of funding for the program and decides how best to allocate those funds. Once they have awarded the funds, they can not award any more. Schools usually do not have enough SEOG funds for all that qualify. As each school gets different fundint and sets their own criteria, it is not unusual to b awarded it by one school and not another (my daughter got it some years and not others despite having the same EFC very year).

Pell, on the other hand, is an entitlement grant - you get what your EFC qualifies you for. It will be the same at each school.

SEOG is usually awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. The earlier you file your FAFSA/school financial aid and submit to your college can determine if and how much your SEOG is each year. Asking your college’s financial aid office how they prioritize their SEOG funds can help you in being awarded SEOG funds. The amount can vary as it does with your Pell, however, the amount is dependent on how much the school was awarded and how many students they need to divide it among.
