Fee Waiver for International Applicant

I am an international applicant applying to Rice University. 1 month ago i got an email from Rice telling me that i have received a fee waiver and can apply for free. However, on the Rice website, it is written that international students are not eligible for a fee waiver. Should i pay the application fee to Rice or should i check the box that says i have been invited to apply for free?

I would check the box that says that you’ve been invited to apply for free - because you were. I mean, maybe it’s a simple as them making an exception for you because they really want you to apply.

If you’re really worried about this, you could always call the school and ask them what to do.

Is your email obviously an overseas email? It is specifically addressed to you?

Yes it is an overseas email.
But I applied without paying the fee and there hasn’t been any problem up till now.
