I was just about to submit my application last night when i realized that as a MDS finalist, i do not have to pay the application fee. I was wondering what the process was to be waived of the fee. Do i mail the a copy of the certificate and do something else on common app?

Johns Hopkins University will waive the application fee for finalists and semifinalists of the Maryland Distinguished Scholars program. Applicants must include a copy of the certificate when applying for the fee waiver to be approved. We also recommend you make a note of your fee waiver status in the additional information section of your application. The fee waiver is not offered to Honorable Mentions of the Maryland Distinguished Scholars program.

For students applying online who plan to use a fee waiver, the process is simple. Complete and submit your online application, and mail a copy of your certificate. If forced to make a selection regarding fee waiver, just select any option and remember to mention the Maryland Distinguished Scholar fee waiver in the additional information section. Do not submit a payment as we will not send refunds. If your fee waiver request is not approved by our office after we receive it in the mail, then we will contact you to submit a payment. If the fee waiver request follows the instructions above then it will be approved.
