I am an international (Indian) applying to a few schools that are need blind for internationals. I want to request a fee waiver for those schools (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Williams, Dartmouth) but I'm not sure if I will be granted one, and I don't want to be caught in a situation where it's Jan 1 and I haven't recieved a fee waiver nor paid the application fees.

Should I consider applying for one? Will I get it? My family's (gross) annual income is USD 100,000 and we support 5 members of my family (including my grandparents). I'm applying to 9 colleges, so sending the CSS profile + app fees + SAT scores is going to cost a lot, and while my parents can do it, it would make things a lot easier if I could waive the fees.

Sorry, but your family makes too much money for fee waivers. If fee waivers were given to all students whose families earned 60k-100k per year, very few app fees would ever get paid.

That’s true for everyone. It would be easier for every family if fees could be waived. Pay your fees. It’s your decision to apply to 9 colleges. If you’re concerned about cost, apply to less schools.

I completely understand. It just seemed that there were a lot of people from my country, who are roughly the same income group, apply for fee waivers, because we have domestic college application fees to pay as well, and we need to have a huge range of colleges since we have effectively no safeties as internationals seeking aid. Nonetheless, I think its fair that I have to pay up, and I don’t want to cause any confusion with the whole fee waiver process anyway, so I guess I know what to do now. Thanks to everyonethat helped! :)
