This girl who got into MIT (Laila something), she got this fee waiver thing and I asked her how - she said she got this letter from the principal and she applied for it. If you want to see the copy of her letter pm me. (I hope you don't mind laila.. the letter is fabulous though.. you must've been a perfect student lol)

U hav to approach ur principal and ask her ... to write a letter to the university commintee for admissions stating that the admission fees would present a hardship. This has to be in a school letter head. Then attach this letter (attested copies or original to the admission application.....

ANd mind it do not try to copy from naca.com or collegeboard.com /... both are meant exclusively for US students....

Think abt the letter...and write a draft ...i got the whole thing edited and checked by the east India Director of USEFI... get urs done by an english teacher..
Btw NOfx could u pm me the Fee waiver Laila.. had.. i wanted see and compare for myself

But you don't have to be a perfect student for a fee waiver! It's just about whether you can afford to pay the app fee or not... regardless of whether you are an A or a D student.

If the GC confirms that financial hardships make the app fee unaffordable to the applicant, the fee waiver is generally given.

Though of course, some colleges provide fee waivers to top students as an incentive to attract them to their colleges. This is hardly the case with top colleges I would assume.

And the nacac and collegeboard.com stuff were just for reference!... the form gives you a rough idea of how these things are written. but these can vary greatly from GC to GC. what is important is, mention of the financial hardship of the student resulting in his/her inability to pay the app fee.

It isnt surely the case with some colleges but there are eligibility checks on fee waivers. If colleges find the fee waiver to be unsatifactory they deny it and mail you asking to pay... Submit the waivers and if you do not hear from them it probably means they accepted it...
Gud Luck

i don't think i'll apply for a fee waiver.. though if things start to get too costly, that'll be an option. my GC thankfully is experienced in this stuff :)

Also /.... ppl remeber that certain univ explicitly state they wont allow international fee waiver and want app fees ..... Do check out on each univ site for Application fee waiver for International students ... Also if u do mail them and ask seperately that helps......
