On the Regular Decision Table, most colleges just ask Finalists to check the "Fee Waiver" box on the common application.

Do we also have to explain the fee waiver somewhere on our common app or contact the university? Is just checking the Fee Waiver box acceptable?

I was told by two colleges (Dartmouth and Columbia) to either:
A) Contact the college itself and mention that your application is for a QB finalist and therefore to waive the fee

B) To mention it in the additional information section of your Common App

I don’t believe we have to confirm it. If you forward your Questbridge application, they will pair your common app with that and see that your fee is waived. At any rate, they will notify you if you do have to pay the fee.

I called Rice about this, and the admission officer said they don’t typically read the additional info section.

I forwarded my QB apps already, but I haven’t submitted the common application yet. After the school receives my common app, will their system automatically pair it with the QB app for the fee waiver?

Just called Columbia about this. They said that for Finalists who did not match Columbia, but are applying through regular decision, a fee waiver from our counselor is needed.

However, this is not reflected in their requirements on the QB site…

^ Wait, what?! I won’t be going back to school until next week, after the deadline; should I just pay the fee in case? I had the understanding that it was automatically waived by just checking “other.”
