fee waivers for applications

I was wondering if anyone knows why some kids, that don’t qualify financially, are getting lots of application fee waivers in the mail while others aren’t. My daughter who is a college freshman got a bunch of offers to apply for free from several schools but my 2nd daughter isn’t getting any of these offers. Her stats are unweighted 4.0 gpa and a 34 on the ACT. My friend told me her son is getting a bunch in the mail as well. I wasn’t sure if there was a way to put her stats out through college board.

I believe this is something you eldest opted into and your second declined when they took the tests. Someone more knowledgeable than I can share if this can be changed.

Fee waivers? Sometimes this is college dependent. Some colleges offers these to kids and some don’t.

One of my kids got some free application things from some schools…and the other got only two because two of his schools offered free applications to students applying before October 15…

The ones inviting mine to apply for free tended to be from schools where their stats were on the high side for that school and they were unlikely to attend regardless. Actually, I don’t recall that they applied to any of the freebies. I think my STEM kids got more than my LA student with similar stats. I don’t think you should worry about missing out on anything great here. If it’s important to you, you can always call the admissions of a school and ask if they have free app code for higher stat kids rather than cases based on financial need. But also as stated above, the student opts to receive or not receive info from schools when they take the ACT/SAT.

Thank you for your replies. I appreciate it.
