Fee Waivers?

<p>Hello,
I'm a relatively low-income student (about $30k) applying to a number of common-app schools, mostly reaches. Since each application fee is about $75, and I'm applying on 9-10 schools, the fees would be a significant financial burden on my family. I know it's possible to request fee waivers on applications, but after snooping around on Collegeboard for a while, I've been unable to find any specifics regarding how a prospective student would go about requesting such fee waivers. I have two main questions:</p>

<ol>
<li><p>How does one request a fee waiver? What information does one need to provide (e.g. tax returns, FAFSA, etc..? I know my GC needs to sign some form, but I'm not familiar with the specifics thereof.</p></li>
<li><p>Would requesting a fee waiver have a detrimental effect on my chances of being accepted and highly selective universities? I know most of my list is need-blind, but I don't know whether this is applicable to fee waivers as well.</p></li>
</ol>

<p>I believe that each school has their own requirement. But I did find this from collegeboard. Did you get a fee waiver for the SAT?

<p>Also when you look at each school on the common app, it usually shows what is required for fee waiver.</p>

<p>I do not believe waiving the fee affects admission. Some colleges actually send out notices to some students telling them they will waive their fee.</p>

<p>Use the NACAC fee waiver. I used fee waivers for the majority of my college applications and it didn’t seem to have any negative effect (almost all of the colleges I applied to were need blind though).</p>

<p>If you receive free or reduced lunch, you automatically qualify.</p>
