My incoming freshman is participating in the Fast Track program which offers the opportunity to live in Burns Hall with other Fast Track students. Does anyone have any experience with a child living in Burns? How does it compare socially with other dorms? My son is interested in pledging a fraternity but doesn’t know anyone at Ole Miss going in and is a bit concerned about meeting kids. Thanks in advance for the help!
My junior son lived there for fasttrack 2 years ago. Nice place. Have him pick a lower floor as move in day elevatorsw can get backed up. Get there 30 minutes before check in and you unload all the stuff on the curb. Grab a laundry bin by the front door to help you load. Also buy a decent dolly at sams club that can help you with the boxes. Pack all his clothes in the dressers or drawers you are bringing from home so when you get to his room, you just put them under the raised bed. We did the loft thing but my son never slept in, just crashed on the futon that we dragged down from Ohio. My son pledged the Beta house and has enjoyed it. He will find a good house to pledge. My sons best friends are from CA, MA, FL, AR and IL. Plenty of kids to meet. He will love it. Don’t cut class, 3 misses and they drop you a letter grade.
Any thoughts on Martin or the other female traditional dorms? Daughter did not want to stay in the Honors dorm/floors nor in the other contemporary dorms. Martin seems to be where she and her roommate would like to end up.
Thanks so much for all the information and the tips… Very helpful!!
martin is a zoo. 11 stories of freshman wildness. My son loves to party but that place is crazy. Go contemporary. Much nicer.
