Feedback on the following colleges for EE major

Hi All,

I am looking for any feedback on the following colleges for EE major. Eventually, i want to do masters and job in Semiconductor research.

Univ. of California - San Diego

Univ. of Washington - Seattle

Univ. of Portland

Portland State Univ

Oregon State Univ

My preference is to stay close to Portland but still get the quality of education as close to UCSD/UW as possible. Specifically, please let me know if you think the quality of education between UCSD/UW is vastly different from UP/OSU (or PSU).

Thanks!

ucsd can give you a great education if you want to eventually get into semiconductors for the masters degree. at ucsd one of the requirements for an undergraduate EE major is to take a sequence known as a depth sequence. and you are in luck because semiconductors is a depth sequence and you actually get to build stuff in several lab classes where you wear a space suit and get to enter in a super secret restrictive area of campus. this should help you in your semiconductors journey.

Proton,

Thanks!! thats excellent news. I didnt know of this 'depth sequence'. I will mark it as a special advantage for ucsd.

Do you have info on how the profs teach the courses? Meaning, do they foster thinking or are their assignments and tests too bookinsh?

Feel free to comment on other schools as well.

All, Could you please comment on the other schools as well?

TIA!

if you scroll down to pard "d" of this link Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)

there is more information on the program. actually semiconducors is listed under "electronic devices and materials"

from what i know of the profs. there is a whole lot of lab work.

here is the description of the classes under the depth course descriptions
